The New York Knicks haven't shut down trade requests for Cam Reddish, per @IanBegley
“In discussions between the Knicks and at least one team, Cam Reddish’s name has been discussed.”
Flash back to one month ago:
-Media: “Now that Cam Reddish is in NY, the Knicks are definitely getting Zion”
-(Ron Howard): “The Knicks were in fact, definitely not getting Zion”

This is excellent news. We need them to beat out the Lakers to help us get the Lakers pick.

They JUST got him lol. What is New York doing?
Maybe they gave up on the idea of landing Zion, after our trade yesterday.

Yup, NAW goes to Utah for $5 million in cap space and a crappy 2nd rounder. Kind of a cheap price tbh

Heurter is a poison pill player so he counts as like (made up numbers) $4.5 mil going out and for Hawks and $14 mil incoming for Pels

It's rumored Thibs didn't want him and seeing as he doesn't play him the rumor has some legs. It legit seems like they only got him for a few days of "Zion Duke reunion" headlines.

NAW or Kira had to go out also, only way money worked to take CJ.

Reading today's email from TrueHoop, they say that there's a theory that Portland is making these firesale moves in an effort to actually try to get Lillard to force his way out. Because Lillard is past his prime and they aren't going to win a title with him (the theory goes) they are ready to move on from Lillard and start a true rebuild from scratch.
The other theory is that Jody Allen wants to sell the team, and a new owner might be enticed to buy if the payroll is low and the new owner can build the roster the way he wants.

Why would they do that?
Lillard trying to publicly force his way out would decrease his value.

He could have potentially, multiple suitors.
Knicks, Lakers, Clippers, Wizards, 76ers(if they don’t do this Harden deal), etc would all be interested in trying to bring him in.

1) He's been holding them hostage for years, and that's no fun for anyone.
2) His skills have started to decline. If Portland wants to get a big package for Dame, this offseason may be their last chance. Their rebuild is going to be hard, but it will be a lot harder if they hold on to Dame until he's worth nothing.

I think the selling the team makes a lot more sense. Clearing the books is very common in those cases, we've seen it with multiple teams.

Yeah, I agree. The best thing for Portland would be to rip the band-aid off and Trade Dame now. At this point, I would take a shot at Simmons and see if you can build a unique roster around his skillsets.

heres the synopsis (BTW henry abbott is dialed in and not prone to speculation)
Sources tell Henry Abbott of TrueHoop they are sure that both the Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard would like to part ways but "neither wants the bad press of being seen as the instigator."
Lillard has often spoken loudly and forcefully of his desire to win a championship with Blazers and has even denigrated other star players who have switched teams to improve their title odds.
The Blazers have traded CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Robert Covington and Larry Nance this week in a series of deals that downgrade their team in the short-term.
Lillard can sign a two-year, $107 million extension in July, which he is rumored to be seeking.
While Lillard was mentioned in trade rumors over the offseason, his injury status coming out of abdominal surgery complicates what any team will give up for him in a deal.
Last offseason, it appeared Lillard was close to requesting a trade. "Privately his agent wielded big threats," writes Abbott. The Blazers were made clear that they had to improve their roster or he would try to leave. Portland re-signed Powell and traded for Nance, but the results were disappointing both in terms of Lillard's play and also the strength of the supporting cast.

That whole article is just fascinating. Great look at all the angles teams/players can play.
The Jody Allen stuff is on point. She may have all the $$, but she fundamentally doesn't give a shite about the team.
And Ziller had a different take this AM. He went back to when the Blazers sold Gerald Wallace after Roy/Oden injuries for the pick that became Lillard. Cronin was there for that quick turnaround with Lillard and Aldrige, so maybe he tries it again?

Hate to say it but lillard would solve a shitload of the lakers’ problems. If they didn’t owe us their pick they could shut lebron down and tell the blazers to hang tight
