I would rather Fox but I’m good with trading for CJ. We really do need another veteran on this team that’s been on winning teams to help Zion, BI, and others who’s never done it before. I would wish it were a PG but I think CJ can still score and has a legit 3 pt shot.

Honestly, from reading the last few days, I think there is a general inflation of Fox’s facilitation/PG skills, and an under appreciation of McCullum’s ability to organize an offense.
Fox is better, yes, but there are some asterisks with what has been required for his type of offensive facilitation to be successful(letting him dominate the offense), and for McCollum, he can play more of a point guard role than he did as a starter in Portland.
Basically if you want a much better version of Graham, with a decent bit better three level scoring/playmaking, and is quietly elite at PnR, that’s what you will get in McCollum, which to me is honestly a much better fit than what Fox currently is as a player for this roster and has been the last few seasons

The Cavaliers are trying to acquire Caris LeVert from the Pacers ahead of next week’s deadline. For a little twist, Indiana is on its way to Cleveland today for a game tomorrow, @TheAthleticNBA

Yeah, David Fisher threw this together
Cavs: Levert
Pacers: Rubio, Top 10 protected 2023 Pels 1st
Pels: Sexton
I can't think of who says no assuming the Pacers have backed off their crazy 2 1sts demand. Maybe the Pels if they like another target more.
The main issue is the Pels would have to clear a roster spot to make this move and with Sexton hurt you're sending out a 1st and not getting any better now.

We can’t trade our 2023 first with the chance that we could lose both our 2022 and the Lakers pick. And with many of our future picks tied to swaps, it’s a little risky to trade those future picks as well. 2024 we have swap rights with the Bucks, and the Lakers pick could be deferred. The 2025 Bucks pick is the cleanest and safest to trade most likely. We sort of handcuffed ourselves in a way.

Shamit on potential Heurter deals:
quote:
According to @WindhorstESPN the Pelicans are interested in Kevin Heurter. He's a good fit, but the trade mechanics for him are fun. He's a poison pill player which means he counts as $14.5M incoming for Pels but only $4.2M outgoing for ATL. He will have to go into Pels exception.

Garret Temple and a pick would be an ideal trade for me, assuming a straight up NAW/ Heurter swap is not what the Hawks are interested in.

Sexton just today switched agents and signed with Klutch.

I guess the guys who wanted him can kiss that dream away.

Can’t wait to see how many millions of dollars Klutch costs Sexton this offseason

Moving to Klutch is what you do when your current agent tells you things you don't want to hear, like how a good but not great, smallish guard coming off an injury isn't going to command a max contract.
Sexton's agent had been the same guy that reps Zion. It definitely would give me hesitation in trading for him, just because he's likely to have unrealistic expectations of his market value and there's no better way to give a player leverage than trading draft picks for him when he's expiring.

yeah that’s a no go
I’ll keep speaking this into existence
go get buddy hield
fills a hole and doesn’t block a young guy, won’t cost much in trade
2 more years on a declining deal

Basically. What sucks for Sexton is he's exactly the type of 2nd tier guy Klutch eventually ignores but they can make a sales pitch (aka, lie)

I would love huerter
Get a decent PG too and that would be awesome
