Yeah teams know we're on a clock, but that works both ways. If they want to dump some salary they also lose that ability to use us to achieve that once we finalize the Memphis deal. So like you said, a good chance they're waiting out Utah and Sacto to see who might blink first.

I would much rather Buddy Hield than Reddish. I'd also rather Bogdanovich. If you're giving away more good assets for someone to fill the role of 3pt specialist; there can't be any question about that skill. Hield has enough data to show he is an amazing 3 pt specialist at over 40% over his career of 5 yrs now. Bojan also is shooting over 39% over a longer career.
Reddish is all possibilities and potential; and frankly, we have more than enough of that. He hasn't proven anything.

So what if they don’t blink? Do we just use our MLE and BAE and finalize the current trades?
If that happens I would assume we would have some kind of trade exception would could take into the season. It’s a little confusing though. I think for us to be able to take back the $20-$24 million in salary it has to be done with our current trade in the next two days.
I guess what I’m asking is…if things stay as is, would we still have the non taxpayer exceptions? I think we would end up being an under the cap team with the current roster….so what would we have to work with at the trade deadline?

They're paying to turn Bledsoe/Adams into more useful players. The goal is to win now, so they'll go for a proven player like Buddy/Bogdonavic, not a prospect like Reddish. If they did get Reddish it'd be an opportunistic, extra move, not the main one.

Someone will blink.
With Buddy I think both teams would blink and do a straight swap or maybe we get a 2nd for taking Buddy without sending salary back. With Bogdonavic Utah can always dump later in the year to reduce the tax bill, so the Pels would have to blink and probably give a 1st.
These are all just my own guesses of course, but I think what happens depends on how much more the Pels value Bogdonavic over Buddy. I personally would go with Buddy rather than give up another 1st.

Yeah for sure. Presented those options I definitely go Buddy. Still fascinated to see what happens with Hart. It's been near radio silent on him.

Would have happened already.
We’ve got nada.

I think Hart is getting packaged in a sign-and-trade that has gotten held up for some reason.
If Hart were signing elsewhere, he'd have done it already. If we were bringing him back, then that would have been announced as well. So, the logical conclusion is that he's on the move.

I think Sac wants assets for Buddy. They were close to getting a Kuzma package for him.

Unless they value someone else more (bogdonavich), and they are seeing if Utah blinks. I’m pretty sure everyone knows Sac wants off of that Buddy contract.

I think this is the most likely scenario. But the question is whether there’s a partner that Hart will agree to go to.

I’ll be disappointed in this offseason if we don’t get at least another starter. Otherwise the roster was marginally improved if at all when we sent out two picks and moved down in the draft. Maybe one of the young guys will take a step forward and we’ll be better than it looks but right now on paper this roster is fighting for an 8th seed.

Yeah, and someone's going to blink. Normally I'd say Griff would be the one blinking because he's the one that's super leveraged right now, but I think Sac blinks too because Buddy has been close to a locker room cancer in the past and probably will not like another rookie taking minutes from him.

I don’t think it happens. I think we give up and use cap space or exceptions on a guy like Jackson or Lauri and that’s that.
Posted on 8/4/21 at 8:10 pm to Fun Bunch
I don't really have a problem with Reggie Jackson. Graham reduces the need for Buddy some and if the team believes in Murphy then someone like Jackson probably makes more sense than a one dimensional shooter.

We would have to S&T for Lauri though right? If I'm correct unless we flip Sato all we have really are exceptions left, unless he gets the MLE, but I thought he'd get more than that
Posted on 8/4/21 at 8:11 pm to Not Cooper
Yeah, if you got Lauri Chicago would have to give their blessing and do a S&T. Either they feel they owe you change, which they should, or they'd expect something in return.

I wonder if Lauri could be had for the MLE. I haven't seen his rumored price range since FA started. We need a stretch big.
I'd take Millsap as well, since he'd be a great veteran presence and can stretch the floor a bit.
