IIRC Buck Owens didn't get in until he was pushing 70

Because he bucked the trend and played it his way back in the day. He made a lot of enemies which made him a legend.

I think he pretty much sums it up with these lyrics

quote:

Country music singers have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kinfolk have disowned a few others and me
I guess it’s because I changed my direction
Lord, I guess I went and broke their family tradition

For the early part of his career he was essentially forced to be a clone of his daddy. He pissed off a lot of powerful people when he took control of his career and became who we know today.

According to Savingcountrymusic.com, he was in consideration this past year. It's strange to me too that he hasn't had the honor yet but hopefully in the next year or 2 he'll make the cut.

Penance for missing all those scheduled shows in the 80's because he was a drunk a-hole.

Haven’t seen the documentary but I believe he had to sue his mother and others to gain control of his career. They were essentially making a fortune at his expense because there was a lot of money being made having him tour around singing Hank Sr’s songs.

No matter who he may have pissed off, it’s an embarrassment if he’s not in the HOF.

I agree. Industry award...Grammys, Oscars, etc and HOF for anything, sports included, is all just a way to sell the industry brand, its all marketing BS. That's why I declined my HOF nomination.

Charlie Daniels didn't get in till 3 or 4 years ago.

It's a joke much like the r&r hof when you see some of the other acts that have been inducted

He's just carryin on an old family tradition.

quote:

Why is Hank Williams Jr not in the Country Hall of Fame?

How did he get in this position?

Why does he drink?

Why does he roll smoke?

Why must he live out the songs that he wrote?
