Randy Meisner
Timothy B. Schmit

When this topic comes to mind i always think Rush, Tool and Led Zeppelin. I also gotta agree that The Who is also up there.
I also think bands like primus and sublime are extremely talented at every position.
Definitely a great music debate topic.

We were talking about this just the other night.
Every one of them an absolute virtuoso at what they did.

I agree with Zeppelin. Page had already played on many legendary albums for other bands before starting Zeppelin. Each of the other members had significant contributions with John Paul Jones exerting a much bigger influence in the later years.
I also agree with those mentioning The Band. Most of the members played multiple instruments and they would take turns with lead vocals to decide what sounded best. As that documentary of them mentioned, most successful bands had one or two very talented individuals that were supported by the rest of the band. The Band had five talented members that each took turns being the lead when it fit.

Cream is a band I don't think about often. But when I do, it's like "holy shite.....that was an amazing band". They were together for what, like 2 years. I just don't know enough about bass to comment on that side, but to have Clapton and Baker on guitar and drums and put out the music they did is insane.

A very serviceable bass player but not extraordinary. He's no Geddy Lee for sure.

And I will add that he's a MUCH better bassist when Clapton is singing.

Fleetwood Mac doesn't some love here:
Mick Fleetwood
John Mcvie
Lindsey Buckingham
Stevie Nicks
Christina Mcvie
Previous iterations had some talent too

Rush has been mentioned about 20 times in this thread.
I'm not sure if I've heard even a single rush song. Is there one I may have heard but don't remember it's by Rush?

Surprised that Queen isn't mentioned more.

Prince was a band unto himself. And few were as talented.

I'm a big proponent of back-listening projects*, but I checked their discography, and dat shite ain't happening. Waaaaaay too many albums.
*where you take a band that you know little to nothing about and listen to their entire catalog

No mentions of Milli Vanilli?

Pick the popular ones. But if you've never heard them you're missing out on arguably the best drummer alive and the best bass player.

I think it is rush as well, even if you hate geddy lees voice it’s still rush.
