WTF…that is Thanksgiving Day 1987. U2 was too big to return to BR by 1992.

I was there. Incredible concert!

I was lucky enough to be there in 1987. U2 at their best following the Joshua Tree album. While the stage at the PMAC was where it might usually be for any concert, it was sort of in the round. We sat behind the stage and it turned out to be great.

Saw them on the Unforgettable Fire tour - opening act was Lone Justice. Adam Clayton was just sitting in an open section off to the side. He watched the whole set.

Saw them on the Joshua Tree tour in the Orange Bowl. Opening act was Buckwheat Zydeco

Really liked them back in the day. Maria McKee was fire back then, and her first two solo albums were really good. From what I've heard she was too much of a diva and slowed down her own career.

We sat behind the stage as well. Was an incredible show. Both U2 and the BoDeans were money that night. Still get chills when I remember the crowd singing "40" after the band had left the stage. Awesome night of music!

Really liked what I heard from this band. There just wasn't enough of it.
Anybody know the story on them?

They are still putting out music. One of the founding members, and a prominent voice in the band, was fired in 2011.
"Outside Looking In" is their best known release, which is what they were touring in support of when they opened for U2.
They have a live album, "Joe Dirt Car", that I really like.

I always liked U2. Music fandom is often odd. People like a band, then when they explode in popularity, they "sold out" and suddenly they suck.

Kind of the same for me

Became a fan after that 1987 opening for U2. Got to see them at Tipitina's in 1991. REALLY great in that small venue.

I can't remember where I first went to see them but they were awful. And then around 1991 they were opening for Little Feat in a pasture in eastern Kansas. The BoDeans were great, Little Feat were surprisingly bad. Go figure. I can remember that the BoDeans had an album produced by T-Bone Burnett and they were not too happy with him, though the album was pretty good.

I like them enough. Like most, I prefer their older catalog (Boy - Achtung Baby, really). But their other, newer albums, even if poppy and too clean or produced, still have the occasional good song or two littered in there.

I was in high school when Sunday Bloody Sunday broke. I was instantly enamored. It didn't hurt that my first real girlfriend was really into U2 at the time. We listened to War nonstop in my pickup. Back filled with Boy and October. Those three albums were great. The honesty of sound of growing up, dealing with the spiritual side, and the angst of politics hit home for me.

So I do not deny my affinity for U2.

After I finished LSU and was working Achtung Baby was released. That one tapped into my after school party lifestyle. Very modern and club sounding. That album was great, probably their best. Lanois and Eno FTW!

I've seen them twice. Once in Birmingham, AL around '92 on the ZooTV tour and again in Houston several years back.
