Which hit song from the past do you think could appear and be a hit song today?

A song that we know was a hit but in a parallel universe is released today and no one has heard it before.

Blinded by the light...somewhat psychedelic with the keyboard riff with some rock mixed in... something you may hear at the festivals and such.

the first thing that came to mind

Rick Beato’s YT channel is legit.

Here’s Every Little Thing She Does broken down track by track, and why it stands up.

Highly recommend TD players/writers check out his other breakdowns.

Plenty of rap songs, since they all sound about the same and cover the same topics.

I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor would wreck shop if it came out today. It could be done in it's previous style or in a mall country style.

My first thought after reading the title and considering the putrid pool of available popular music today where the term "hit" is typically applicable?

About 90 percent of them.

If "kiss" by Prince came out absolutely brand new today, it would ROCKET to the top of the charts.

Under the Milky Way tonight
- The church

Everybody wants to rule the world - Tears for fears

Personal Jesus
- Depeche Mode

Thunderstruck - AC DC

Friends in low places
-Garth Brooks

Bust a move
-young MC

Do you really want to hurt me - Boy George

Lady Marmalade
- la Belle

The Joker
- Steve Miller Band

These are just off of the top of my head but add pretty much anything from Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, or Bon Jovi.

Kiss by Prince so timeless, maybe The Way You Make Me Feel and Billie Jean by Michael Jackson, truly great songs defy pigeonholing and time periods

With all the fentanyl in heroin these days, Bradley would be dead before their first album dropped.

Prince has so many songs that are timeless in my opinion. So many different sounds that stand the test of time. Too many songs to list.

Talk Talk -- "Hate"

Elmore James -- "Shake your Moneymaker"

Wells Fargo -- "Love of my Life"

ETA: I didn't notice the "hit song" portion of your question....these weren't hits other than James' song but, nonetheless, I think they'd get a strong reception these days.

Manic Monday (Prince composition) as recorded by The Bangles would likely be a hit song today

The Police's music does not really sound dated at all to me. I think most of their hits would make it today.
