Maybe it depends on the circles we run in.

Jay Weinberg and Art Cruz. Both are compared to the badasses they replaced but they are both awesome in their own right.

John Stanier of Helmet and Battles. Some of his work with the latter is fantastic, but I’m also a sucker for bombastic percussion.

Glenn Kotche. Incredible live.

Chad Smith - always plays great grooves and can roll at times when Fruciante solos.

Another would be Ray Luzier. He gets hate because he's "not Silveria" but man he plays tight as frick and is great at everything.

Tre Cool of Green Day.
I don't really like Green Day but he's a human metronome. He writes some pretty catchy parts too.

Roger Taylor, isolated drums from "Brighton Rock" off of Queen's 3rd album "Sheer Heart Attack". He may be famous but he's underrated as a drummer

Stewart Copeland and Mitch Mitchell are both in Rolling Stones Top Ten Drummers Of All Time and belong to well known bands. They don't count. Bernard Purdie.

He has a beat named after him. Not exactly underrated.

I don't see how anyone that is in Jeff Porcaro's top 2 drummers and who recorded with Steely Dan could be underrated.

Richie Hayward, no, no one will ever confuse him with Neil Peart or John Bonham, but he could cut a groove so deep it could be studied in a Philosophy class.

quote:Patrick Wilson from Weezer is an absolute monster behind the kit. I still find him one of the freshest writers in all of rock drumming.

I could not agree more. Luzier is amazing behind the kit. He is way too good to be in Korn.
