Some great ones listed especially agree with Coozy Powell, Bill Ward and Bun E. Carlos they have all played in wekll respected bands but they are overlooked. Have to agree on Lars he is a jackass but always did what the band needed especially in those first 4-5 albums.
Would like to add: Vlad Ulasevich of Jinjer. While they play almost zero solos his polyrhythms, timing and precision is amazing.

I really wish he was still Billy Joel's drummer but they're both a couple of hot head New York douchbags and that was bound to blow up one day.
Sorry I'm late on this post. Yes that is correct about Lib. I met him 4 years ago, he was nice and polite and offered time to sign autographs for the fans and strike a quick conversation. I friended him on FB and the stuff that he says, yes, it's very NY-like. He speaks his mind and is not afraid of not being political correct, typical foul mouthed New Yorker. Regardless, great drummer.
Now to answer the OP question:
To me is Jeff Porcaro.
Nigel Olsson
Lib

Joe Morello or Ed Thigpen if we’re not limiting it to rock.

Thumbs up for Morgan Rose...you can’t really appreciate him until you’ve seen him live...
