Everyone taking sides is about as stupid as Clinton vs Trump.

Brantley Gilbert's "Bottoms Up" in my bro-country jam. That Luke Bryan Song, "I don't want this night to end."
And I like that FGL song with Nelly "Cruise".

Does that mean I'm not allowed to be excited to see the King in May? Hell I'm excited about the entire lineup and if that's a crime, tell Hammertime to come check these knucks at Walk-ons before the concert.

No, that lineup is pretty decent for country because there's no bro country on that lineup

It has it's place. If I'm drinking a beer on my F450 tailgate out at the lease or something like that.

Wait, sorry... that's red-dirt country I think.

I like most older country like Conway, jones, coe, nelson, daniels but i'll admit to like a few of Jason aldean's songs too. FGL just doesn't do it for me. My go tos right now are cody jinks and stapleton. George strait was probably the bro country of his day as well......................

I do enjoy old country, but the slightly homosexual vibe has always been there. Go back and look at the outfits those baws were wearing in the 60s and 70s. You can't tell me they were all playing for the home team.

What is "outlaw" about that type of country?

It's about as far as you can get from the ethos of the Texas Outlaws movement of country music. Bro country is as color-by-numbers, label-driven as it gets, and that includes shite like Kesha.

The seeds were sown with Garth Brooks

Garth brooks did to county music what panty hose did to finger fricking.

I agree with what Waylon said, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine.

I love Garth. Garth still feels like country music to me. While I see how he led to bro country, it's not like that was an inevitable result. Garth was a breath of fresh air in a stale country scene rife with corny synth and fake horns that wasn't much less artificial than Sam Hunt.

It's a shame Garth led to Big & Rich and Florida/Georgia Line, but even knowing that, it's still worth it. So much of Garth's music is just awesome.

George, Waylon, etc were influenced by Bob Wells, and played modern western swing. Bro country has pop as a foundation.

When I saw Hank Jr. open for Thomas Rett in the superdome, I wanted to burn that bitch down.

This topic comes up multiple times a week. After thinking it over on a few occasions I think there is a solid argument either Tim McGraw or Kenny Chesney actually started the "bro country" movement; not Garth.

The conversation turned to country so I was saying how I liked George Jones, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash etc... She then goes off how she only listens to Florida Georgia Line (after that I completely checked out) and I'm sure she listed a few other more modern artists that are equally as bad.
