There was some really good music back when I was a kid, there was also some really terrible music. But even the terrible music at least sounded like, well music. Whatever that was didn’t remotely sound like music. It sounded like someone with Tourette’s Syndrome.
I think it's shitty too but there's still good music to be found. I'm just not dialed in anymore. Luckily, my son is into rock, and he finds new stuff for me.

Did that sound like actual music to you? I’m honestly asking.

You don’t think there’s such a thing as shitty music?

Traditional song structure or amazing musicianship doesn’t work for many under-30s unless they are musicians or really “ get” music. They just want a catchy groove on repeat. It’s like giving candy to a 4 year old, it’s just what they want. You can’t explain what has been lost to someone with no knowledge or interest of what came before. Some people don’t know about gourmet food, it’s a burger and fries diet only. Some people don’t know about International travel , they like to go to the RV park and grill. It’s what they know.

You’re right. There is still plenty of good music to be found. You just have to look for it.

I guess my point is I can’t believe that dogshit like the “song” I linked is even produced. It takes a lot of work to put out a single. So that means whoever the “artist” was on that song pitched it to a record producer and they agreed to invest the time and money to release that single. And it apparently is quite popular from what I understand.

Yes why aren't high school football games in 2019 playing the Beatles and Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin? How dare they play modern music that appeals to teenagers.

Old people thought the same thing when rock and roll came around.

If you go back and look at the top 40 over the last 50 years it's mostly forgettable pop shite. And since it's forgettable we tend to only remember the good stuff.

There is quite a lot of rap that I like. But if that’s the future of rap, holy hell.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not music. I like some of Migos music, I have some of their songs, including this one, on my playlist.. I listen to everything from the Beatles to Maren Morris, but if I am getting pumped up... I like to listen to hip hop.

You sound mad about this.

At least they didn't play that God awful country rap bullshite. I think I'd rather listen to Fran Drescher laughing for 5 minutes straight than that.

I disagree

I’m 40 and when I was a teen I was all about The Rolling Stones, the doors, the Beatles, etc

And catchy sounding music has been around since the 50s

That’s not even really a new song.

And Migos have been around for a long time. So I wouldn’t exactly say it’s the future of rap.

Yep, the days of this kind of music are gone.

YOU'RE THE ONLY WOMAN

Although I would never play it at a football game.

Now this is a song that needs to be played at football games !
