I never understood it either. I love Nirvana. I like Dave Grohl. But I just don't like the Foo Fighters. They seem too bland and generic.

I've listened to their music with an open mind, but I just can't get into them. I guess to each his/her own.

Foo Fighters are the bland, banal, boring blah of the medicated, moronic masses. Go to the movie board and look for reviews on some of the laughtrack'd shows and terrible movies of the recent years and you'll see people defending the "art" with comments like, "sometimes I just want to turn my brain off", "I don't want to have to work during a movie", "it's a popcorn flick", "it doesn't have to be anything other than entertaining", etc. Foo Fighters are their soundtrack. It's meaningless music for people who are searching for two qualities; catchy and loud. Their HBO work is only proving how calculated and soulless it is.

Yeah this pretty much nails it. Beautifully put.

You need a Mars Volta enema. It might hurt at first, but you'll thank me later when your face is melted and your pecker is tingling.

I could not tell from your original post. It doesn't accurately describe the band at all. Read as if you just went to a concert. Just a terrible post overall. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced you haven't heard any of the songs.
let it flow buddy.

if you've made it this long without hearing a foo fighters song then you've been living under a rock. only reason I brought up live performances is because, although live performances dramatically affects the greatness of a band, people were raving how it was the greatest concert they've ever seen and I had a different experience.

I was just looking for some insight on what, in your opinion, makes them "great".

I think the over-the-top derision in this thread is far more hyperbolic and cliché-ridden than the praise in the Foo Fighters fanboy threads.

Foo Fighters deserve neither, Imho. They are a good solid working band that gives a great honest performance with honest songs most people dig.

You won't get it. You are a Dead Fan. I must admit I am not a massive fanboy for them like I am Pearl Jam. But I get it. Any Nirvana fan by default love them because of Grohl. Grohl has a great Rock and Roll scream. See Best of You. Will that song suffer night to night due to Grohls age, cigarettes, beer, etc? Yep.

The drummers Grohl and Taylor stand out in the band. The rest are just musicians. smears has been around forever.

If you want to jump generations, they are no Led Zepplin. But they would be the first to tell you that.

NO, you have to take a side on one of the extremes.

Which modern rock bands do you feel have "soul" in their music?

Depends on how you define "soul", but off the top of my head White Denim, The Walkmen and Modest Mouse aren't bland as shite. So there's that.

Without dipping into the notorious jam scene, I'd say Gary Clark Jr.

Just wanted to get a feel for the bands DosManos liked since he was shitting hard on the Foos.

Haven't ever listened to White Denim or The Walkmen but Modest Mouse kicks arse.

I've probably heard a few FF songs but I honestly can't name a single one of them. Not exaggerating.

Troll?

If not you're just that guy? No matter what is said you will shite on it. I was mentioning a great rock and roll scream. This song has it. For the entire song.

If you already have your own answers stop asking questions.

Regardless of there being a good scream, that doesn't make up for the rest of that song. No way that Best of You is a "gem" for the Foo Fighters.

I figured they must have some choice nugs that maybe I haven't heard or something that bigger fans would know. Not that garbage
