I'm not a huge FF fan or anything. I've never bought any of their music, or seen them live. But I respect that band for a few reasons, but mostly because I respect Dave Grohl as a musician. And I would never begrudge anyone or question anyone who IS a fan.

BTW, really looking forward to seeing their Sonic Highways series at some point. Really cool concept.

Foo fighters are generic, trying to relive the 90's, bland crap.

This is about it for me. Can't deny him being talented.

What if you're curious and feel like you are missing something? I don't like to break everything down to the inevitable "Different Strokes for Different Folks" line

Dave is a cool dude in general. But my appreciation for Foo Fighters begins with Self-Titled and ends with The Colour and the Shape.

ANY major rock band should not have to resort to covering fricking Queen's "Under Pressure" in one of their sets. Seriously, how did hearing Dave Grohl sing "Under Pressure" make you all excited?

I'm not necessarily against interesting covers, but something tells me they're trying to distract the crowd from the fact that their original music is boring.

That's all it is though is a concept....a marketing concept designed to sell records.

You don't understand why people that love the Foo Fighters would be excited to hear them cover a beloved song?

Are you mentally retarded?

I don't really understand that comment either. Covers are always appreciated at concerts

Quit using words like "beloved" if you want to be taken seriously. I bet you really miss MTV's Top 20 Countdown, Kurt Loder.

Not always. Not when it's a center piece of the set. Not when the rest of your music is uninspiring. Maybe I'm just knocking on the cover song aspect because of my dislike for the rest of their catalog. I could be wrong. Don't listen to me.

Grohl recorded a serial documentary (HBO), spending a week in eight different American cities with rich music histories. He conducted interviews with musicians who are deeply involved in each of those cites' musical traditions. Then, while in each city, the FF wrote a single song mixing words and ideas from those interviews as lyrics to those new songs.

Grohl told Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes that his week in New Orleans changed his life, because it made him fall in love with music all over again.

I think it's pretty cool.

I don't believe that at all. See my post above. Dave Grohl doesn't need to sell records. With his FF success and royalties from Nirvana, he doesn't need to do a damn thing for the rest of his life.

Pimp Jr. told me yesterday "Let it die" was in his top 25 songs (he's 13). I told him maybe my top 1000. Really good song. Not great. LINK
