Most Pink Floyd songs are overwrought, self-absorbed tripe. And Tina Turner is the most untalented female singer I know.

If there isn't ONE single instrument on stage (guitar,bass,drums,keyboard)............they why why why can the "come see my laptop" performers" actually put on a concert???? You are watching a laptop!!
And Beyonce is terrible. She is the most over rated artist (if you can call her lip synching self an artist.)
Hair metal wasnt the only thing in the 80's with big hair.........everyone had big hair.

Very interesting to see how peoples taste in music can vary, just like food, beer, etc.
Living in TX, I find Willie Nelson quite enjoyable. "You Were Always on My Mind" is a great country song. I also think Tina Turner is one of the top 3 female R&R voices of all time.
Now that being said, I wouldn't give you two cents for anything by :
Nirvana
U2
Duran Duran
Tim McGraw
Bruce Springsteen
Al Stewart
and quite a few others. But that's just me

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread....I have finally come to terms with the fact that Nirvana is not one of the greatest bands of all time, especially from a musicianship/talent perspective.

1. I'm not even sure it's unpopular to say that the Beatles are overrated. I actually believe that the majority of this board believes that to be the case, but the minority is just quite vocal in their defensiveness. Insufferably so.
The fact that this topic comes up so much and that a minority defend the Beatles with such zeal is almost dispositive on the subject in and of itself. And the nature of the defenses is definitely dispositive. Why is it that reference is always always made to how influential they are? Well, it's because the statement of "they made great songs that still hold up" isn't one that anybody can say and really believe it. Because if you could say it, you'd just say that, and wouldn't mention that they were "influential".
Case in point: my dad told me to listen to Sgt. Peppers. My dad has never once in his life played a Beatles song in my presence. Basically, the Beatles are to music listeners as the gym is to me. I don't like going to the gym at all. But I like having gone to the gym.
2. Ironically, LZ is actually more influential than the Beatles. You just don't need to talk about it because you can talk about their awesome songs instead.
3. Greg Dulli is the most underrated rock artist on planet earth.
4. Pop music is probably the highest form of music
5. Bach is better than Mozart and Beethoven.
6. Grimes is the best musician on planet earth.
7. Female vocalists are better
8. Music s just as good now as it's ever been
9. People who don't listen to new music have given up on life
10. One who has no music training is a better judge of what's good and what isn't good than someone who has lots.

I just realized this today and I figured this thread existed.
I like the song Believer by Imagine Dragons feat. Lil Wayne. Come at me.

Heavy metal is not enjoyable to listen to in the least bit.

Old school rap and artists like Macklemore is the best kind of rap.

These 2 are definitely not the same. Macklemore is more pop than Hip Hop. But I do give him credit for actually rapping about stuff.
Conscious/Lyrical Hip Hop is better than mainstream all day everyday. But negativity sells. That's why the genre is so popular. Not because of the value of the music, but simply because the music is negative.
Lastly, there is no true 1 best genre or worst genre. It all has to deal with what you grew up on/resonates to you the most personally. Everything is subjective.

This seems like this would rankle metal fans but I doubt any of the fans or bands figure "enjoyable" is really the basis of the transaction.

Terry Allen is better than Willie, Waylon, Jerry Jeff, etc. He came up with those guys, he is about the same age as those guys and about to put out another LP and has art works in all the big galleries and smithsonian. The reason most people haven't heard of him is he pursued visual art and was a professor at Texas Tech.
Metallica's St Anger is their best album.

I don’t like Rush or Queen and immediately flip the station if they come on

Well, I saw her yesterday.
It's you she's thinking of
And she told me what to say.
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad.
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad.
She said you hurt her so
She almost lost her mind.
But now she said she knows
You're not the hurting kind.
She says she loves you
And you know that can't be bad.
Yes, she loves you
And you know you should be glad. Ooh!
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
And with a love like that
You know you should be glad.
Come on bruh. To judge The Beatles it has to be in the context of what preceded them.
#1 song in December 1963: "Dominique"
#1 song January 1964: "There I Said It Again"
#1 song March 1964: "She Loves You"
It's easy to call them overrated with 50 years of music in the rear view mirror, but at the time they were fresh and dynamic.

Some people just don’t get it. Like watching the original Star Wars and staying “that shite is overrated. The special effects suck”

I don’t hate Chris Stapleton but I hate his TN Whiskey song, and believe it got faux fanfare. It’s boring about like him, and the other couple versions are way better.
I hate Train ( hey soul sista.... makes my skin crawl)
I’m also in the hate led zep camp and I think it’s either due to classic rock stations playing them over and over or Plants voice.
Blake Shelton hasn’t had a good song ever, if it wasn’t for his media ambition he’d be washed up with Trace Adkins and Brantley Gilbert by now.
