But how? They covered a ton of musical ground in a very short period of time. Almost every band of the time was influenced by the beatles. Subjectively, I get that people just don't enjoy the music, but they're probably the most influential band of all time

Drake is the most overhyped artist of all time

Cobain was a terrible guitar player, and it is shameful that he gets mentioned on top 100/50 guitar player lists so often

The Beatles and Grateful Dead are two of the most overrated bands ever.

Drake and Lil Wayne wouldn't even sniff a list of the top-100 MCs of all-time

I don't listen to either of them much anymore but this is an exaggeration. I guarantee no one could name 100 MCs better than Drake or Wayne. Early Drake and Wayne are both top 25-30. Wayne has gone off the deep end and Drake is basically now a singer.

Van Halen is the best American band ever. Grunge ruined rock and roll for almost 20 years Foo farters music all sounds the same- yelling over bar chords. Led Zep had the best run of albums in history. Oasis released pure sh!t music. Pantera was the best metal band ever. Whenever I hear of the " big 4" , I chuckle at these goofball bands........especially Anthrax and Slayer. Country music is for retards unless it's David Allen Coe, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson or Hank 3. Stevie Nicks sings like a baby goat. Slash is a sloppy lazy guitar player who can't bend a note to correct pitch. Jackyl singer Jessi James should have replaced Brian Johnson in AC/DC. Axl Rose sounded like crap trying to sing ACDC.

The National are boring. War on Drugs too but their last album was better.

*100% of country and redneck rock is awful.
*Rush is one of the best of all time.
*Led Zeppelin were the stars of their time and deserve ultimate respect.
*While the Grunge/Alternative scene from Seattle forever changed the rock genre, it was a much needed and welcome change.
*Maynard James Keenan is brilliant and uniquely talented.
*The one genre of music that never reached its full potential is funk.

Hate:
Led Zeppelin
Beatles
Dave Matthews
Sting
Police (because of Sting)
Phil Collins

Underrated:
Lindsay Buckingham
Don Felder
Dan Fogelberg (as someone pointed out)

And most unpopular will be that I can get into some sappy pop like some of the Backstreet Boys, Barry Manilow, Bangles etc.

I'd Be Better Off (In A Pine Box)- by Doug Stone, is actually the greatest country song ever written.

But how?

I think its just a trendy answer. As you say, certainly one of the most influential bands of all time. If for nothing else, it can be said that each of the Fab Four went on to have success as soloists, etc.

Ditto about Led Zeppelin being overrated. Without a doubt one of the best rock bands of all time, regardless if you are a "fan" of their musical style. This band pumped out a number of quality albums in about an 8 year span that is not rivaled.

Personally, I am not a huge fan of either of those two, but I do repsect the music and if you take the time to listen to a few of their albums you'd change your tune about them and appreciate them.

Now, on to my unpopular opinions:

1. Britney Spears is a terrible singer.

2. Lady Gaga should just sing ballads and dump the "pop" songs.

3. Rap music is so terrible, it has robbed a generation of American youth from enjoying their own music.

4. The Cult is an underrated band.

5. If I had to pick one country of music to listen to for a month straight, I'd chose England over the US.

I was never all that impressed with Hendrix’s guitar playing. I think he got most of his popularity from being a black lefty who could play guitar in an era where most of the music festival crowd was too drugged-up to really know what was going on.

Van Halen and Jimmy Page > Hendrix

Tool is VASTLY overrated (I do listen to a select few of their songs).

Foo Fighters suck

Original Allman Brothers line-up is the most talented group in music history.

Fleetwood Mac is one of the best of all time.

Beach Boys are better than the Beatles.
