Things I love about this thread:
1. People courageously daring to post the unpopular opinion "The Beatles are overrated" alongside 25 other people who've already posted it.
2. Rap fans who say Country music sucks

- The Bee Gees are vastly underrated as writers and in their eclectic offerings. From the great lyrics of 'I've Gotta Get A Message To You', the ballad in 'Words', the swamp rock with dual lead guitar of 'On Time', the Philly soul of 'Heavy Breathing' and 'Mr Natural', and the pop genius of 'Love You Inside Out' and 'Nights On Broadway'
- The Deleo brothers of STP don't get enough credit for the sound they created
- Phil Spector is overrated as a producer
- I love the persona and the man, but Johnny Cash was not a good singer
- Rhianna is a lazy singer

I think that more times than not our musical tastes are shaped by the period in which we live - not to say that we don't deviate from the norm in various ways, but there are temporal limitations.
My sisters played Joni Mitchell's Blue when I was about four; I discovered it for myself years later when I was nineteen. It was already etched to some degree on my conscience. If not for my sisters, I would probably not have ever discovered Joni Mitchell.
No offense meant.

There was great rock & roll being produced then -- I just wasn't exposed to a lot of it.
95% of people will only listen to the music of their party years -- nothing earlier, and nothing later.
I'm not like that. I like rockabilly, doo wop, soul, motown, girl groups, garage bands/nuggets, British Invasion... All of which were before my time. Of course people who think you can only, must only like the music of your youth are confused by this.
I'm still open to new music. Unfortunately it's not easy hearing new R&R these days, as you have to search for it yourself -- unlike in the '60s, when it magically flowed out of the radio.
Still, I try to keep an open mind.

"Jam band" music is awful. Took me a while to realize this but half of the bands lead singers cant sing and the songs sounds like children's songs. frick
I used to like moe. but barley can get through 1 song. Maybe its just a phase for me idk.

The reason that would be an unpopular opinion is because it shows both a poor understanding of the Allman bros and music in general.

Totally agree. Dickey Betz was a drunk a-hole. He couldn't carry Duane Allman's jock strap.

There's a reason these opinions are unpopular.

Jason Isbell's voice is nails on a chalkboard for me.
The Foo Fighters are bland and safe rock for people that don't really like rock.
I hated Nirvana.
I still don't like Rush.
John Mayer is a hell of a guitar player.

You compromise your reputation as an "expert" here by classifying Steve Perry as a screecher. The guys voice never cracked and his pitch and tone are legendary. With that being said, I understand the sound of his voice and the music produced by Journey wasn't for everyone, but to put him on the same list as Plant and Geddy Lee (two true screechers) simply isn't right.
I never heard Brad Delp live, but the guy absolutely sang his arse off on the recordings. Between Delp and Perry, you're talking about vocal performances that very, very few singers can replicate.

That Eric Clapton's "Cocain" is highly overrated.

What do being a drunk and not having the same ability as Duane have to do with my original post? I'll answer for you: nothing. Go back and try again.
