Foo Fighters killed it! Always a great show! Dave is up there with the GOATS. Don’t understand the hate they get here. Take your Widespread and shove it.

Agreed. So far everyone has been great. LCD, Brand New, and Foo Fighters killed it.

Kendrick was good, not great. LOL’d all day at the dumb college girls there to see the DJ sets wearing essentially their underwear and freezing. Some seriously stupid people out there.

I’m not a rock festival guy, so not much to compare, but Dave Grohl went hard. He literally sprinted onto the stage at 21:30 sharp. He did not slow down for a minute. That’s my first time seeing them, and I was blown away.

Agreed. They fricked up Kendricks sound from the get go. Still put on a great show. If never have a daughter I’m shoving her back inside. Definitely had a few get off my lawn moments this weekend.

Foo Fighters put on an amazing show. I'm so glad I got to see them play for the first time. Brand New, Black Pistol Fire, and Live all killed it as well. Overall Voodoo was a great experience although it was our first one so I have nothing to compare it to but I'm glad we made it.

Hot take of the week:

As an over 30 semi-regular attendee of Voodoo - I'd *much* rather deal with the tripping balls kids at Voodoo, than the fatass old people and tourists at Jazz Fest that are mostly there to eat and socialize.

At least at Voodoo, I feel like most of the people are there to watch the show.

I don't know if that is much of a hot take but I agree.

Kind of hard to compare. Unless it’s Rage or some huge act, you can plop down lawn chairs and watch headliners with a good view of the stage and tons of space. Try that at JF and you’ll be on the track right next to the portos.

See I (mid 30's) feel totally different about it. It feels like a parish fair. So many of the kids just cluster up and talk the whole time.

I guess it's been 3 years since I've been too voodoo. I didn't realize it turned into 97% EDM festival. I just cant deal with the millennials jumping around acting like idiots in my space when I'm trying to watch the band. They all dress the same. Sports jerseys and crew socks. They're loud and yell obnoxiously.

This has to hurt alcohol sales I would think. There are no lines for drinks even during headlining shows. A lot of these kids cannot even legally drink.

God I hope these kids don't discover jazz fest.

Also it was such a nice day we deciddd to go at the last minute. $110 at the gate for a ticket? even jazz fest is kike $80 last minute. They are sucking these kids dry. I don't think I'll go back to VDF again after yesterday.

TL;DR get off my lawn

It has nothing to do with legally drinking. They don't want alcohol. They're all on mdma, Adderall, pot, shrooms, dmt, and xanex. Alcohol doesn't enter the equation for these kids.

Missed Voodoo for the first time in a couple years but I've always preferred it to JazzFest.

The early bird tickets are super cheap, the weather is generally much more pleasant (they actually refunded an entire day when they had to cancel last year's Sunday shows), and the event is more more organized and efficient. Leaving the main stage area to grab a beer or use the john is surprisingly easy, even during the headliner sets.

Yep. We walked up at or after start time and stood on the rail (off to the side) for Benjamin Butler, The Record Company, Strand of Oaks, and others I hadn't head of before Voodoo, but thanks to the interwebs I was familiar with them by fest time and all put on great shows. Other high points were Black Pistol Fire, Vintage Trouble, the Head and the Heart (great costumes, with lead guitarist as Slash), Brand New, Live, Foos, and the Killers.

Never waited for a bathroom and little to no wait for beer and food most of the time. Very few people claiming acres of space with tarps and chairs.
