No there's not. Is there good music out there to be found? Sure, but it's not plentiful as in years past.

Okay. Digital recording and making music too accessible.

I agree in the sense that the tech industrydigital platforms have turned music from art into content... With even the CEO of Spotify saying "Today, with the cost of creating content being close to zero, people can share an incredible amount of content"

That statement alone is devaluing the music/art...

The way the music industry is set up these days... it's all about the technology and what flows through it is fungible.. content.. views/streams/likes/etc

The concept of art is such a joke

Cavemen were drawing dudes jerkin it 40000 years ago and that’s considered high art now, but only because only a few of them down in caves survived to the present day

The biggest difference between today and 40 years ago is you can’t play a few gigs a month and live you have to have a full time job as well as music and you better hope the full time job pays well. The pay for playing a show has been 100 bucks a man since like 1970

Music is basically a cia psyop and has always been anyway. The cia kids are put to the forefront as rock musicians and when the cia really wants to shake things up they create something like gangsta rap

The true greatest musician ever is probably Henry Kissinger or George H.W.

But on the flip side, there is a lot more junk and noise to rifle through to find the good ones because there is no gatekeeping to push the greats forward unless they already come with a self-built content package and community following.

I think this is an important point. I'm sure there's good stuff out there today but it takes effort to find.

As someone who loves music I've all but given up on searching for new stuff because you have to wade through so much shite to find it. I'm not gonna spend hours and hours listening to crap to finally find something I like.

Also, while the modern music industry was initially great for artists allowing them to get noticed without relying on record labels, it's almost as if it's grown to have the same problem but for different reasons.

Now the market is so saturated with music it's hard to get noticed.

The truth is, it's easier than ever to make great music, that part is up to you. Work on your writing and playing and use the tech that's available to you and you can do it easier than ever.
There is plenty of great music out there but as others have pointed out, you have to wade through so much crap to find it now.
The major labels used to be good at finding great new artists, not so much anymore.
If you take a look at who the labels have in charge now, compared to 20 or 30 years ago you'll know what the problem is. Especially in Country music.

Society is more idiotic and lazy now.
“Musics” are simply following the dumbed down audience. Listening takes way too much effort nowadays.

The only legitimate forms of human expression are the Oak Ridge Boys, Taylor Swift, and the theme song for “Rawhide”.

Album art, a big part of the listening experience and a major factor in establishing an artist's image, has been reduced to appearing only on tiny phone screens at about 1.5"x1.5", and on top of that it's generally horrible more often than not, these days.

There's no mystery or mythology surrounding bands, today. We've gone from guys with long hair and beards who look like motorcycle-riding sex gods to artists who look like they moonlight as baristas or librarians.

This might be the most homoerotic opinion on music I've ever heard.

Listening takes less effort than ever. FINDING takes effort. There’s simply too much content. A small shadowy cabal controls the algorithms that decide what you can easily find. Unless you play the algorithms game better than those who own if do, you’ll never be heard.

That’s why everyone here only listens to the Beatles, Metallica, Lynyrd skynyrd, tool, and Led Zeppelin

Why listen to anything besides the best?

I'm convinced most people here either have such specific taste in music that no band that has come out in the last 50 years could possibly fit it, or they just do not actually want to hear new music, no matter what they say.

Look no further than the visceral reaction to Greta Van Fleet.

Old heads: Why can’t we get another band like Led Zeppelin?

Greta Van Fleet: exists

Old heads: No, not like that! You sound too much like Led Zeppelin!!!

Greta Van Fleet: ….

Old heads: There’s no good new music that sounds like Led Zeppelin! Everything new is CRAP!!! *Only listens to classic rock FM radio stations.
