Obviously, those got the most play, but Red Hill Mining Town has become my favorite track over the years.

Absolutely fantastic album but I do have gripe with a few comments here. I Still Haven't Found What I am Looking For is a good song but it is the worst song on the first side of the album. Best song on the album is One Tree Hill. Also 1987 wasn't the greatest year in music. It was the last great year in music but even that was carried mainly on the shoulders of The Joshua Tree and Appetite for Destruction. You could throw a dart at any year in the 70s and hit a greater year for music.

I love Joshua Tree, but U2 seem to have become something they didn’t want. The Sphere concept in Las Vegas is gaudy AF, but I’d still go see it. The U2 of the 80s wouldn’t like that shite.

They got flashy in the 90s, then something changed. Music became rote and loud, tho the concerts were awesome. But now they don’t look happy doing their stuff.

From who are U2 taking their marching orders, now? Is Saint Bono being prodded to say some of the stupid shite he does about American politics?

I’m down with putting it at the bottom of side one, but I think it’s a great not good song, and the fact that I’d sign off on it being at the bottom of side one shows the power of that album.

As much as I really like some early US, I think this album is very weak.

I think they keep doing it because it’s, well, what they do.

I think I have read that Larry Mullen Jr. hates Bono’s guts with a passion and interacts with him as infrequently as possible.

Was my favorite band in the late 80s/early 90s. This may be the only album where I liked every single song on the first listen.

However, due to what they became, I didn’t even have a desire to go to the Joshua Tree anniversary tour a few years back.

That was an amazing show. I think they've put out a lot of garbage since All That You Can't Leave Behind, and Bono has become a politician. But that show was stunning.

There needs to be mention of these two names...

Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

i'm old enough to remember when apple sold an ipod or iphone pre-installed w/ U2s new album and got roasted immediately by people asking how much they had to pay to get the device WITHOUT that on it.

never a fan of U2. i liked New Year's Day a bit but couldn't handle being force fed their music cosntantly.

Not true. I'm sure they've had disagreements but anybody would being together that long. Besides, Bono is the big pretentious douche that gives the low key types like LMJ and Adam Clayton the bad look. So if even if true, I understand.

You’re old enough to remember something that happened less than 10 years ago?

I find side 2 of this album the superior side.

U2 has become quite the punching bag in recent years, for some reasons that I can understand.

I’ve never been hyper focused on U2 as a band but damn they definitely have 2-3 songs on my top 100 or higher and another 2-3 that are also good works.
