The Black Crowes - got to see them live twice. Great band. Too bad the Robinson brothers can't get along. Both Chris and Rich have made good music own their own, but together they were incredible.

The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion was an incredible album. Then they became a fragmented jam band. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Saw them open for Robert Plant years ago.

That album cost Babbo the elusive 5th star from NYT

I saw them about 40 times over the years.
Saw my first show in 94.
Marc fords first go round with the band was when they were at their peak around 95-96.
Once marc left because of his junk habit, everything was pretty hit or miss from there.
Southern harm is probably their best album but amorica is amazing as well.

They sure did listen to their Humble Pie records a lot. I say that in a good way.

My mom and aunt went on a double date with Chris and Rich in high school

Great stuff. Their By Your Side album doesn't get enough credit as it sounded like a throwback album of sorts

Their debut CD is one of the best first albums. Every song was good. Love the way the second one was recorded too - sounds like southern rock live in your living room.

Did Rich jump from behind the wheel at some point to beat the shite out of Chris in the back seat while Oldmobile coasted down the hill?

One of my favorite bands. I was actually listening to By Your Side yesterday and thinking it's just hard to top a good southern rock band on a hot summer day.
If the world was right, these two would make amends and do something together again. Like mentioned before, They went from being a rock band favored more by the Skynard types to a jam band by the later years. I know that push came from Chris. I believe Rich always and still wants the rock sound.
I was listening to a podcast with Rich and he said all the guitars and sound equipment for the black crowes were destroyed by flooding with Tropical Storm Sandy in NJ. He said that he felt it was a sign that the Crowes were officially done.
I got a head full of sermons and a mouth full of spiders...

Same, in NOLA. What an unexpected treat. Hard to handle had just blown up and we knew who they were by the time we went to the concert but had no idea just how good they were.

Also saw them open for Plant at this show. Saw them open for ZZ Top too. They sounded great live.

Amorica has some of the best songs released by any band in the 90s, And one of the tall time great album covers.

Twice As Hard is the best Crowes song but gets very little respect because it wasn't a pop hit like their others.

Sometimes Salvation on the The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion album has always been my favorite track of theirs

One great thing about the show I went to is that Alannah Myles was the original opener. The show was postponed and by the time the date was made up, the Black Crowes had taken over the opening band slot. A much better choice; Black Velvet sucked.

They were meant to be the modern classic rock band that carried the torch with dignity. Ultimately they dropped the ball when they tried to go all jam bandy. Damn shame. If they could have made a whole career of albums like Southern Harmony, Amorica and By Your Side, kept their childishness in check and just rocked the way they rock best, they would be upper echelon legends and then some.
