The age old debate: what’s the best decade for music?

The 80’s would be my favorite. It’s hard to beat Genesis, Bon Jovi, Peabo Bryson, Phil Collins, Journey, Van Halen, U2, The Police, GunsNRoses, Def Leopard, and so many more. The music from that era just carried a positive vibe and really got your blood pumping.
Downvote away but that’s my favorite time in the history of music.

This is very hard and subjective. I love a lot music from all decades since the 60s (even the 00s and 10s). If I listed my top ten albums from each decade, I think the 90s list would be my favorite.
But I could make an argument for most of them. I certainly wouldn’t want to argue against a decade that saw The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, The Velvet Undeground, etc. at the height of the powers.

I grew up in the eighties, everything was awesome, especially the music.

My vote went against that, slightly.

THIS. It's all relative with age and how you relate that particular music with the happiest times of your life.
That being said, 70's & 80's for me.

80s and 90s for me. 80s was great, but in my late teens and twenties I loved grunge and alternative in the 90s.

70s.
Hard rock, progressive, punk, post-punk, electronic and ambient, funk, soul, disco, reggae, outlaw country...so many styles of music still popular today came to prominence in the 70s.

Disagree. That was the mid-late 2000’s for me, and while I think the 2000’s are a bit underrated (long ago enough to be dated, not long enough to be vintage), no way it was the best decade for music. 2000’s aspires for 3rd place.

I agree the 80's were awesome but those bands you listed suck. Sonic Youth, Feelies, X, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, REM, Meat Puppet, Gun Club, Green On Red, New Model Army, Billy Bragg and many other OG alternative bands are who made the 80's great.

Funny, all those bands you mentioned suck IMO. See? it's all relative, subjective.

I’m partial to the 90s due to sheer variety.
