Fir me its Motley Crue... first record is great though...
Motley has three albums that are fantastic, Too Fast For Love, Shout At The Devil, and Dr. Feelgood. Plus you could make at least another couple great records from their other releases. Crue isn't a terrible band nor did they only have just one great album.

If a band can release at least one great album, it'd be hard for me to put them in the "terrible" category.

Shout At The Devil only great album? I would agree with that. You could argue Interpol but Antics is pretty damn good too. After that, big drop. The Knack and Klaatu only had one good album, but I wouldn't call them terrible by any stretch.

GNR made a career off he one album? Which album are you calling that one album?
Appetite - Top to bottom it’s flawless and many consider it to this day to be the best debut record of all time for a band.
Lies - Was basically a glorified project EP at 33 minutes that they put out because the record executives told them to. They were hot off of Appetite and were forced to manufacture something to make some money.
Illusion 1&2 - solid albums with good songs but nowhere close to what Appetite for Destruction was.
The Spaghetti Incident - Covers album
Chinese Democracy -
Basically when you saw Guns on tour; you where there to see Appetite with some other songs sprinkled in.

You just ruined your own argument, that they made a career off one album.
These songs/videos and the Illusion Tours were huge.
Don't Cry
Dead Horse
Civil War
14 Years
Yesterday's
Coma
November Rain
You Could Be Mine
Estranged

what are you confused about? Appetite for Destruction is basically their greatest album.

I’m not saying GNR was terrible but no other band made a career off of one album like they did.
Which album? Both Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion were pretty solid.

Same here. Antics is their pinnacle.

Wasn't confused about Appetite, of course it's an all timer. Just wanted to see what he said because Appetite and the Illusions were huge for GNR.

You ain’t lying. And it’s wild to know the span from Appetite to the double albums was just a hair over 4 years. Such a brief run for Axl, Slash, and company.

quote:Use Your Illusion would have been a great album if it had been ONE album instead of two. I gotta agree with that guy, love Appetite front to back. Everything else GNR did I can take a song or two and leave the rest.

Let's be real, there's filler on the Illusions, but his argument was no band made a career off one album like they did. That's false. Appetite they were playing smaller venues, Illusions came out and they're playing stadiums. I mean they sold over 14 million copies.
Now that I think about it, why the frick are we even talking about GNR and Pearl Jam in a terrible bands thread.

A lot of people like to shite on Pearl Jam. I’m not one of them really but I get it sometimes. Idk who considers GNR terrible though
