Bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, AIC, STP etc.. seem to get mentioned more. But I've seen them live a few times and their live performances sounded as good as their recorded music.

maybe in the top 20%. They never did anything great, but they put out solid music that was less generic than others.

Aaron Lewis solo work is better than Staind, and I like Staind. They just didn't do quite enough to make their music shine the way the elite bands did

fair enough.

i saw them at the house of blues in new orleans and was blown away at just how good they sounded.

saw them at endfest in city park when it was like 95 degrees and we were getting drenched with fire hoses. They were the best band there.

They were a non factor in the 90s for me, other than changing the station when/if one of their songs came on.

The first half of the 90s were great. The second half was music that isn't much better than anything else that has came out in the last 20 years.

They fit in more with early 00's music to me. While I enjoyed them during that time, I have little to no desire to listen to them today. They weren't doing anything all that interesting, along with many of the other popular rock acts that came up in the late 90's / early 00's. They all seemed to follow a formula whose goal was to get radio play.

Can't stand Staind.

They always came off as whiney and pathetic to me. At least their singles did. I never listened to their albums, so maybe their other songs weren't so bellyaching?

All the bands you listed made much more interesting music and pulled more emotion out of songs than Staind did.

I wouldn't rank them in 90s at all

They were more a 00s band to be lumped in with Korn, Limp Bizkit, Nickelback, and the like

I used to really enjoy them as I transitioned from pop over to metal but they've faded over the years. It's Been Awhile got so much radio play I couldn't stand that song for about 10 years until recently. They had some good stuff on Break the Cycle.

Aaron Lewis has an amazing voice and is now raking in on the solo MAGA country side of things.

Mudshovel. Excellent.

Then that GD song w/ Fred Durst happened and they were like...WAIT A MINUTE! PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR TORUTURED EMOTIONAL STUFF!!! And then they beat that GD horse to death.

'Its been awhile' was/is an awesome song and one of my favorites ever....but it got drowned out with all the same stuff that followed

Staind is cool. They came along with the Limp Bizkit/Kid Rock timeline. The 90’s were a tale of two halves. 90-94 and 95-99. Grunge and alternative in the first half. Nu metal the 2nd half.
