Holy shite...I thought you were just fricking with me...so I looked it up. The freakin Bee Gees wrote Islands in the Stream.

That is awesome

The Bee Gees had a fair amount of success over a couple of genres of music. Sadly, because they were so successful with disco music they took the fall when disco fell out of favor. No radio would play any new music they put out. So they were forced to write songs for others in the 1980s and those other performers, singing Bee Gees songs, had some big hits.

I was pretty old when I found out JJ Cale wrote Call Me the Breeze, Cocaine, and Traveling Light. I’m 30 for reference.

I was a kid of the 1960s, it not until Clapton did his "unplugged CD" in the early 80s that I learned that a ton of songs done by Clapton, Led Zep, Foghat, etc. were all written by a old guy named Robert Johnson.

Yeah, but she left out the last verse, which was the best.

I claim to know quite a bit if trivia about popular music of the last several decades, but this one still surprised me: the Herman's Hermits 1965 hit "Mrs Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" was written by this man:

Faith Hill's "I Can't Do That Anymore" was written by Alan Jackson.

Trisha Yearwood's "XXXs and OOOs" was written by Alice Randall, who is best known for the novel "The Wind Done Gone" (a parody of Gone With The Wind from the perspective of a mixed slave named Cyrene).

I dont just have any specifics right now, but I always be so heartbroken when I learn that one of my favorite singers did not write any of their hits.
