Fish On...

Les Claypool is an outstanding bassest (one of the best) and a musical genus. Nutty as a loon, but a genus none the less. Lesser know fact that he interviewed with Metallica when they were looking for a new bassist....

If you've not heard of them, you really should check out Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie brains. It's Les Claypool of Primus on Bass, the guitar aficionado Buckethead, hall of fame funk keyboardist and founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic Bernie Worrell (with Bryan Mantia of Primus on drums). The YT link above is one of their first shown and was unrehearsed.

I have only walked out on one concert ever, Primus. Saw them and Mastodon a couple of years ago. While I recognize their talent the music just totally turned me off.

I enjoy some of the old Primus stuff from time to time. I appreciate the bass as a bass player, but it is unusual and a totally different style from most players. The band is essentially a drummer, rhythm guitar (who may get a little weird at times), and a bass that is doing both the rhythm and acting as lead in the absence of a lead guitar. It makes for a unique sound to say the least. It is not something I can listen to for a long time. It is fun in small doses.

I saw Primus on the Slayer tour 2019/Nov ... It was Slayer ,Primus, Ministry and Phil Anselmo and The Illegals ... Primus blew away everyone ( including Slayer) . for a 3 piece they put out some serious sound and Claypool was the best musician in the arena by far ..I always was ok with Primus but after seeing them live , my respect level went way up with them

John the Fisherman is the best combination of a normal sounding song that still sounds like the average Primus song. It's fricking great.

That’s how i was. I saw claypool around 07 in high school because my buddy was a huge fan. It was fun and weird but didn’t blow me away.

Primus can along a few years later and was blown away. Tried to catch them as much as possible I was so pissed Covid cancelled their Rush show in Houston last may

Winona Big Brown Beaver. Definitely an oddball group but I like their music. I think they hit mainstream when they did the opening sounds for "Southpark".

Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade was one of the best jam bands ever.
