I cant listen to them... I don't mind oddball, in a Butthole Surfer's kinda way, but they are just annoying to me...
This. I dont care about their weirdness, I just absolutely hate everything about their sound.

They are one of the best bands of all time. Definitely too weird for some people, which is understandable, but they are wrong, and are missing out.

Exactly. Les Claypool is an amazing bassist, Tim is an incredible drummer, and Ler is an amazing guitarist.
Frizzle Fry and Sailing the Seas of Cheese are must listen albums for anyone that enjoys rock music.

A friend introduced me to the suck on this album in 95 and I loved it.
Still do.
That live album ruined me for their studio albums though.

Not a big fan of them, but I do love this video..
Wynona's Big Brown Beaver
Perfect video to put on if you are having friends over to look at mushroom spores through the microscope.

Check out Les Claypool's Frog Brigade. He covers the entire Animals album by Pink Floyd.

I posted a link on the previous page.
They also did a killer King Crimson cover.
Thela Hun Ginjeet
They also covered Wish You Were Here. (The song, not the album.)

Frog brigade was so good.
I lived in northern Cali at the time and probably saw them at least 10 times.
One of my favorite shows was at the fillmore on the night before nye, jerry cantrell came out for the encore and they jammed out tomorrow never knows.

I was at that show too. I only saw them a few times. Maybe four or five? I’d have to check my stubs.
My first show was late night in Vegas on 9/30/2000 at the House of Blues after the Phish show at Thomas & Mack. All the buzz was that Trey would show up, which he did. What we didn’t expect was that Stewart Copeland would also show up. But he did and the encore was an Oysterhead reunion.
Les had a great line earlier in the show. I’ve got a recording but I’m going from memory here. It was something to the effect of: ‘Do you see all these people coming in? Many of them are coming from the Phish show. Many of them are high on LSD. Light man, you are in control.’
Oh yeah, it was also a killer Phish show. It was Trey’s birthday. They released it on DVD. The night before was pretty killer too and included a guest appearance by Kid Rock of all people. I’m pretty sure all involved did some heavy partying that weekend.

I’m sure they’re all very talented musicians but the music is unlistenable

I was in vegas that weekend and was there as well. I just remember sitting in the balcony at hob.
Kid rock was probably the weirdest most out of place sit in ive ever seen for any band, it was fun though.

I was in the balcony too. Some of us were smoking a bowl before the start of the show when a security guard came up and tried to toss me out. It was my bowl and my weed and he just happened to come up when I was holding the pipe. I COULDN’T LEAVE. He asked to search my pockets. I said no. He threatened to call the cops. I told him there would be no more problem. He said he couldn’t do it so I couldn’t either. (I spotted a signal there.) I showed him my hotel key and let him know I was a guest at Mandalay Bay. We went around and around for a few minutes repeating the same arguments and defenses. All my friends and neighbors I was smoking with were generally acting like they didn’t know me. I just kept saying there wouldn’t be a problem. Eventually he gave up and left. Some stranger behind me, with whom we’d been sharing, asked me what kind of Jedi mind trick I used to get out of that. I just said I couldn’t leave. There was just no way I was missing that show.
So I hit the bar. I ran into that security guard a few times on my way to/from the bar that night. The last time he just smiled and gave me a pat on the shoulder.
After the show, he was standing outside the venue where there was this massive crowd of hippies exiting into the casino area. I put a nice nug into a cigarette cellophane, rolled it up, and slipped it to him in a handshake. Then I ducked down and slipped through the crowd just in case.
I’m not a Kid Rock fan and I never would’ve expected to see him sit in with Phish. But he killed. That was a lot of fun. He’s a much more powerful frontman than Trey. Walk This Way, Rapper’s Delight > You Shook Me (All Night Long), and an encore of American Band. That was so hot.
