Before this morning, I had heard of Primus and Les Claypool, but didn’t really know any of their work. Well, this morning I went on Youtube and checked out some of their music videos. I think “strange” is the best way to put their music, although the band is very talented, they’re very oddball. But commenters on the videos say that’s the intention.

Primus fans, what’s your favorite song from the group?

It is, now check “Jerry Was A Racecar Driver” and “Winona’s Big Brown Beaver”. Finish it off by grabbing yourself a can of “Pork Soda”.

I cant listen to them... I don't mind oddball, in a Butthole Surfer's kinda way, but they are just annoying to me...

Same here. I've tried with an open mind, but it's not for me.

not to spinoff, but I do however dig some of The Lennon Claypool Delirium

Groundhog Day
Over the Falls
Harold of the Rocks
My name is Mud

There's enough there to keep you happy for years, I can listen to any of these songs on repeat. Just go on Spotify and start listening to albums in chronological order. Everything is greatness

For the unaware, "Primus sucks" was their slogan and fans would yell it at shows.

They aren't for everyone, for sure. You have to appreciate twisted music & humor. "Pork Soda" is one of my goofy favorites.

Grab yourself a can of pork soda
You'll be feeling just fine
Ain't nothin' quite like sittin' 'round the house
Swillin' down them cans of swine

I'd give anything to go back and re-live Lollapalooza '93 in Nola. Primus had that whole field of people pogoing like a human popcorn popper. Total kick in the arse.

Les Claypool is a genius.

Primus is a good barometer of musical taste imo.

Southbound pachyderm and too many puppies are my jam.

To Defy the Laws of Tradition and Too Many Puppies. Claypool is a bass player's wet dream - innovative technique, wicked sound, and bass-forward song writer.
