This is one of those rare "opinions" that's just objectively, factually wrong.

Dave Grohl- what’s so special about him? Foo Fighters ain’t that good

He plays every instrument on a lot of those albums and writes nearly all of the songs. He’s really great at writing catchy songs.

Foo Fighters might not be the greatest band on earth, but they're the last old-school rock band we have IMO and they put on a fricking phenomenal show.

Do you believe Grohl has surpassed Cobain as an artist at this point? Nirvana's run only lasted roughly six years. Foo Fighters have been making records for over 25 years, now. Does Grohl's legacy top Cobain's? I believe it will, if it doesn't already.

The only reason people don't already believe he has, is because Cobain didn't live long enough to embarrass himself with shitty music. Same with most musicians who die young and subsequently are idolized, we never get to see the selling out and shitty late career money grabs.

Nirvana had 3 classic albums and a decent EP.

Foo Fighters could have a hundred albums, but it wouldn't matter, because they don't have a single album that stacks up to Nirvana song for song. It's all just generic radio rock of diminishing quality.

Charlie Watts is a mediorce to good drummer but still the best musician in the Rolling Stones.

Unless it’s really that unpopular of an opinion, I’m surprised to see no one else say that all of the Dave Matthews Band music is absolutely horrendous

I have to respectfully disagree. The Foo Fighters' debut record, The Colour and the Shape, and either There is Nothing Left to Lose or One by One can hang with Nirvana's catalog, in my view.

Had Cobain not left this world the way he did and just overdosed or faded away, I don't think there's much of an argument on this.

As for the generic radio rock label, these days I often hear Cobain's stuff nestled between Coldplay and Natalie Imbruglia on stations that "play anything." You can buy Nirvana t-shirts at JC Penney, for Pete's sake.

Zeppelin's entire career was based in stealing other musician's music.

That's not an opinion, that's a fact.

This is so wrong

Look, I am a big fan of Nirvana, but realistically, they had one great song, then some pretty good covers.

Generally said by people who don't really know the music. This isn't supportable.

... And as far as Nirvana being more gritty or dirtier than Foo Fighters, as a listener now in my mid-40s, I've gotta say that "Rape Me" is kinda dumb.

Some kids today hold Cobain up as a poet of sorts. I was there in real time; a lot of his lyrics were just nonsense.

The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards has said that everything he knew, he stole from Chuck Berry.

No wonder Chuck treated Keith like his personal bitch.

Sure but they did it through their entire career and not only their first album.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of bands that have one great song and some “pretty good other stuff.” Yet none of them sold 75 million records worldwide, had ten top-40 hits, or five number one singles.

Do you mean teen spirit? Because that's really one of the weakest songs on that album, despite it being their biggest hit. The rest of the album is much better than that. Drain You is a legit classic, perfect song.

And In Utero was amazing once you realized he was going for the opposite of Nevermind, but still made it sound incredibly melodic

Keith Richards is an overrated guitarist who wasn’t even the best guitarist in the original band. Rolling Stone magazine having him in the top 5 of all time is laughable

Funny how both Brian Jones and Mick Taylor, were kicked out of the band because Keith couldn't handle being seen as the lesser guitarist. Even though, the Rolling Stones were at their mediocre best when those two were in the band.

It doesn't matter. Keith Richards has nothing to do with Zeppelin being a cover band.

...and for the record, Keith Richards has more rock and soul in his dirty socks than anyone from Zeppelin did.
