The Replacements were the most overrated alterntive band ever. Billy Corgan makes Bob Dylan sound like Pavarotti. The last groundbreaking album that has been made was Ten by Pearl Jam. Jeff Beck is the best guitarist to ever walk the earth. Losing My Religion was the worst thing to ever happen to R.E.M. Bruce Springsteen's politics suck. His songs between 1973 and 1984 do not. The later stuff, yeah for the most part less than average. I've never understood the appeal of Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. Not only were the Stones better than the Beatles I would rather listen to ELO than the Beatles. Before Revolver the Beatles were the 60s equilvalent of a boy band (I Wanna Hold Your Hand, She Loves You, Love Me Do, I Saw Her Standing There, etc.)

Jack White is a HORRIBLE guitar player who should invest in some guitar lessons and vocal training. He would still suck arse after the lessons. He should be heralded as the most overrated musician of all time. Hell, I shouldn’t even call him a musician.

I love it in It Might Get Loud when Jimmy Page is watching him bang away on some chords to the Weight. He has a total poker face and you can tell he’s thinking “Really?!? WTF is this shite?!?!”

In a thread of bad takes, this might be the worst one.

They are played heavily on my Pandora channel, and lots of it just doesn't hold up. Not that terrible of a take.

It's by far their worst known song. Shiny Happy may have been a worst thing though.

Objectively awful.

Well, of course.

And yet it's true (well, at least partially). Ten wasn't groundbreaking. It was decent, though, which is radically more than you can say about literally everything that followed.

I like Rush, and even I have to agree. Getty Lee’s voice is the weak link in the band.

Lynyrd Skynyrd isn't all that great. They're not quite in the Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen ballpark of overrated, but it's close. The best vocalists in metal nowadays are all women. The Eagles have always sucked

Yep. Your opinions are unpopular, and for good reason. They are all wrong.

You’re clearly not a guitar player. He’s a shite player. He might be popular, but he’s a shite player.

I very much so am a guitar player. Jack White is a lot closer to Tom Morello than he is Paul Gilbert, but he is by no means awful. His work is very effects driven, and Jack has always had a soft spot for cheap knockoff pawn shop guitars. He has his own style which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t an excellent songwriter and a shredder when he wants to be. Not everyone needs to be Vito Bratta.

I think the use of gated reverb on drums is a big factor in this. It made everything sound fake and sterile. If you replace 80’s snare with dry 90’s/70’s snare, it sounds pretty great.

Never listened to Cohen. Only Waits album I have is Small Change.

I like (not love) the atmosphere and use of language in his songs. The Cookie Monster voice doesn't bother me, just seems like an expression of his art. Maybe it helps that he comes across as likable and genuine as an artist.

I mean, I think they are so unjustly maligned. The debut album is spectacular and the sophomore effort was great. True, the 2004 album was a disaster, but I really liked the one from 2009.

I also still think Stephen Jenkins has the most boss resume of all time:

Graduated valedictorian of his class at Cal

Decided to start a band when he was pushing 30 already - that band was crushingly popular

Creed is actually very good and is needlessly maligned. Tremonte is a beast, the songwriting is very strong, production is great and they have (at least) 3 good/great albums.
