For whatever reason, I've been cranking them in the car all week, with the following remark pursuant:

Sorry, but they are great.

Fire away.

Holy shite. And then you post about it on a message board admitting to it.

This is just ridiculous (unless you think all pop music is awful - which would be ridiculous in its own right.) I would argue that it is above-average pop music. There's actual instruments. There's good melodies. There's even some very complex arrangements (Something to Believe In, Life Goes On.)

I Won't Forget You is essentially the perfect rock ballad.

It’s not the greatest stuff ever written but it’s far from terrible.
Enjoy what you like.

I like a couple of their songs but always felt they tried to hard to be the perfect hair band.

Poison is good shite.
The best music? Nah
The best lyrics? Nope

But when it came to essential 80's .. they fricking owned it.

I think motley crew and guns and roses owned them, but still fun stuff.

It's hit or miss for me. Motley Crue was my favorite

And awful band. Like Roger stated, tried way too hard and became the epitome of why people were so ready for that scene to end.

Single-handedly created the grunge movement because their music was so freakin bad. Grown men in spandex and makeup singing cheesy songs about poontang. Yup they were great.

Have always been a metal fan and even listened to a lot of hair bands during that time. However Poison nearly caused me to give it all up. I saw them in LC when they opened for DLR's band with Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, and Greg Bisonette. DLR was incredible, but Poison was just freakin awful. They were actually worse live than their painful studio recordings.

I saw them about 12 years ago, it was a pretty good show. I don't have a problem with hair bands, it's better than most of the stuff being made today.

CC Deville is a very underrated guitarist.

That's about the only nice thing I can say about Poison, though I loved them back in the day.

Beat out Slash when the band was auditioning guitarists. Rest of the members told Slash he didn't have the look that poison was going for

Talk about a decision that changed music history.
