Set up -- phil patterson in Covington. I'll get the number off the card in my case when I go home for lunch. But you can google him as he builds guitars too and has a website.
he did my breedlove, made it a new guitar.

Auggie this thread seems like it's picking up speed quickly. Similar to the official kayak thread on the OB and the bourbon thread on the FBD.
Maybe stick "official" in the title?

Everybody can sing.
Starting to believe. I sing mostly backing vocals. My last two bands gave me a hard time about my voice. New band, lead singer pushes me to sing all the time and tries to get me to do leads. With her confidence in me, my singing has gotten multitudes better.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
My problem is a very low and somewhat narrow comfortable range. I'd like to increase my range without doing any damage, just don't know anything about "proper" singing.

I know its probably 1st grade stuff for all you shredders but had my second lesson yesterday. Guy is using Folsom Prison Blues to teach me multiple things.
Things we are working on now. E7,A7 and B7 chords
Alternate picking - Strumming patterns and 12 bar blues. Using "Pick/Strum" pattern as well which I am getting more comfy with.

That's the goods right there. Marty Stuart and his B-bender are coming to Atlanta in about a week nor so and I'll be there with bells on.

Not really working on any song in particular at the moment. I'm mainly trying to keep pace with my step daughter who has been playing just over a year. She picks things up so fast that I'm actually kinda jealous
Funny story, but every time I take her to guitar lessons she and the other girls who take lessons there are wanting to learn songs like Black Sabbath's Into the Void, the Priest version of the Green Manalishi and various Megadeth songs, but the boys taking lessons are wanting to learn folk songs and stuff like John Legend's All of Me. I'm raising her right!!

I feel ya there. I just finished learning the main solo for Dogs the other day. Gilmour is my reason for picking up the guitar. I wish I would've stumbled on to Floyd 20 years ago. It would be cool to see where I'd be at playing guitar if I would've started in my teens, instead of early 30s.

Why are Barre Chords so difficult for me?
I play 2 "2 finger" Barre Chords.B and Bb.
It looks effortless watching guitarist play them. And they sound better than open chords.
I've been at it 18 years.I gave up on Barre Chords long ago.
eta: Lanier, that's a great Song to play. That B7 Chord will come in handy in a lot of Songs that are in that same key.

It’s all about technique. Try this and see how it works for you. When you are fretting a barre chord, give your guitar some back pressure into your body using your forearm on your strumming hand. It relieves some of the force you’re using to hold the chord with your fretting hand because your forearm is acting as a lever to drive the neck into your fingers. With your fretting hand more relaxed because it’s not struggling to apply enough force to hold the chord, you’ll find it much easier to play. Takes a little practice but I promise you that once you get the technique down, you’ll be off and running.

Thanks.I give it a go.

I forgot to mention but you also want to gently pull the neck back towards your body as well. You’ll instantly feel the extra force being created in the neck because the neck is being pushed and pulled at the same time. That’s because applying force to the body of the guitar forces the neck to want to go in the opposite direction.

I don't play many Barre chords either.
