is there a buildup or the beat dropping at any point of the song? or is it about 4 things repeated exactly the same over and over in different arrangements?
so popularity is how we define "pop"?
and i know that literally sounds ridiculous, but when grunge was dominating the radio, was that the music of michael jackson? of course not

RAM is a VERY commercially and critically successful record
that's pretty hard to do these days in the current music industry climate IMO
