You came for the Grammy threads and showed to us that you like shitty pop 40 music. You guys were eating it up in that thread
What drives you guys to listen to this stuff? Does Lordes really make your drive time commute better? Does Imagine Dragons get you so jacked up?
Please no trolling, I want honest answers out of you folks. We just want to understand you better

Your title implies that you are some authority on what is good and what isn't, which qualifies you for Biggest Douche in the Universe award. Congrats!
Go back to the OT.

I almost made a similar thread about Music Elitism.
I am, 100% without a doubt, a huge music snob. I admit it, but I honestly think I have a superior taste in music. I realize I sound like a major douchebag saying that (and I feel like one as I type) but it is true. I don't let that strong opinion affect other aspects of life though. I'd say my friends have a better taste than your average American, but most of them aren't too into it. One of my very best friends doesn't even listen to music. It is strange how it can grip some people so hard yet others are indifferent.

To the nerd talking about "who says what you like is better than what I like, music is subjective" referring to the billboard top 40 abortion juice you pour into your ears: guess what, it isn't subjective. I listen to better music than you do. deal with it.
that's like someone telling me Clifford the Friendly Red Dog is on the same level as the Brothers Karamazov. what, literature is subjective, right?

I understand where you are coming from Heady. I used to feel I had some "superior taste" when it came to music. But once you try to argue with someone who doesn't have the same tastes, you realize it is pointless because who are you to tell someone that they shouldn't like something because you dislike it? Taste in music is an opinion and that's it. I'm all for discussions on talent, influences, etc because those are tangible things. To start a thread or comment on a thread to just say that the music another poster likes is garbage...well that is just an asinine thing to do. It doesn't add anything to the discussion.

I usually stop arguing only because I know I am not going to change the dumbass' opinion. I learned a while ago not to get into a serious music discussion in most social situations (of course concerts and the like are exceptions).

It absolutely is and repeating this doesn't make you any less of a douche. You can argue that you listen to music that is more fulfilling to you than top 40, but what you are trying to compare makes no sense. I like my steak medium rare with no sauce or anything to accompany it. Some people like steak well done. While I think my steak tastes better than it would well done, some people think the opposite for their own reasons. Personal preferences, when it comes to taste, are a silly thing to argue about.

Yep.
Most hot chicks don't care about how many Phish shows you've seen or the fact you can whistle the entire 12.9.95 YEM jam

Heady I don't like Phish but I think I can grasp why you and others do. I think it's great to have a band that you like so much that you listen to every live concert that's ever been recorded.

After about 8 beers and a few fat rails I'll start ranting into like why mid 70's Bowie is the greatest period of any music ever made and Brain Eno is a genius and shite like that

That actual situation has gotten pretty heated.

I'm not in love with the idea of the Tier 1 IM Cleek coming here and taking over, but...

The rap threads have died down considerably...the ones that were pure trolling at least.

Yeah, that's why this site needs Burt back
Anyway...I too am a music snob, and I really think the stuff that was on display at Grammys ways pure shite. If that makes me a douche, so what, at least I'm a douche that doesn't listen to Lordes
