Next Band To Perform Halftime Show

It’s been a minute since a rock band actually performed but given that the mega bands of the 2000s are starting to enter legacy status it wouldn’t surprising to see one of the play soon or maybe a mashup like the Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dog show from a couple years ago.
I think realistically these bands have to be
1. Mega popular or more than likely a legacy band
2. Still culturally relevant
3. Have a good number of well known singles aka no Journey, Jimmy Eat World, or any heavy band aside from Metallica
4. Essentially if they can still headline major fests and do stadium tours they’re good
Metallica, still extremely relevant especially with Stranger Things using Masters of Puppets and seems like only a matter of time
Foo Fighters, everyone knows most of their biggest hits and they put on a fantastic show. Only problem is Dave apparently does not want to play the Super Bowl
Green Day, about to start a major stadium tour and their latest album hit the top 4 on Billboard as well as playing a number of NFL related shows. Seems like a matter of time here
Blink-182, hit number two on billboard just finished an arena tour but most importantly headlined Coachella which is almost unheard for rock acts
Closest thing I would think of for getting a show like the Eminem/Snoop/Dre show would be some form of 2000’s bands including maybe bands like Fall Out Boy, Limp Bizkit, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, or The Killers

The only band listed there I could see playing is Green Day. I think someone like Imagine Dragons or 21 Pilots is more likely. The NFL likes it to play it safe.

They will have something stupid like Axl Rose doing a duet with Lizzo.

I believe several of the groups you listed have said they aren’t interested. The pay for doing the halftime show is $0.

Have any of the Seattle bands done it before?
Only Pearl Jam is left now.
Foo Fighters don’t count but Dave Grohl does. Foo Fighters are pretty safe now.
Are any of the big 2000’s bands still together?

Ru Paul
Perfect fit for Roger Goodell

Foo Fighters seem like the biggest, mainstream, safest artist out there.

I doubt Metallica would get offered the job, but it could maybe work.
I'm surprised Foo Fighters haven't done it yet.
I could see Green Day doing it.
Blink - 182 is not big enough today, and never will be
Other bands? Man, I don't know...there just aren't many big rock bands that were big in the early 2000's that get a big enough draw today. Maybe the Killers? But they aren't huge either.

I think some here overestimate Foo Fighters’ popularity and footprint in the collective consciousness.
As many records as they’ve sold, a Super Bowl audience wouldn’t know who they are.

Big enough to headline Bonnaroo and do stadium tours. They’re certainly one of the few bands that would be big enough but like said before Dave apparently doesn’t want to do it

I’m not sure if any 2000s bands would move the needle to get enough people enthused on watching the halftime show. It’s more about a performance and not a rock show now.
Personally, I’d love to see Incubus or Shinedown but I think their popularity has waned unfortunately.

Could The 1975 pull it off?

That's why its a tough question. What early 2000's band is bigger AND all alive? Audioslave would be up there too But Cornell.

the next Super Bowl is in NOLA and the headliner is a Salute to Trannies across the globe featuring Rupaul and Big Freedia with 1000 Thai and Brazilian Lady Boy backup dancers twerking

They need to bring out a real performer like George Strait and stop with all this nonsense they’ve been doing the last few years

Weird Al could pull it off.
