Pearl Jam

Metallica.

Only a rotating drummer (now not for 20 years. And a rotating bassist after the first died keeps them from being all original.

Oh. And The Stones say “hello”.

I dont think selling out nostalgia tours is the same as putting out new music that people are listening to.

Rolling stones comes to mind and you really have to qualify good music, since that is subject to personal tastes and chart positions can be as much a result of people buying the name as the music.

There aren’t many bands who have been around for 40 years and are still putting out stellar albums.

Unlimited Love is fantastic.

How the hell are they still making *good* music.

Disagree. The RHCP are one band I just never could get into even though they've had some great guitar players.

Rob has been with them now longer than Jason or Cliff. Seems weird to say, but true.

phish formed in 1983
1st album in 1989

in 2022 they are still regularly releasing new original music and selling out the largest venues in the country for multi-night runs. In addition they go to great pains and great expense to make their live show new, unique, and memorable.

they are the antithesis of the dinosaur legacy act living off of decades ago hits with mercenary stage players and mindlessly running through the same rote show night after night

Alice in Chains is a unique entry here. 14 years in-between the Tripod album and their first post Staley album, yet all 3 records of the new era are outstanding and they still play to big crowds on tour.

The album Night Ranger released last year may be their best. Not gonna lie, that album is incredible.

Don't know why you got a downvote but everything you said is true. Anything released w/ Jerry as primary songwriter is going to be great. Now that I think about it AIC, Chili Peppers, Deftones, and Tool are all putting out great music and solid touring. I'd add Korn and Metallica but they're not putting out as solid music as those 4. Although still really good compared to newer bands.

Frankly, or Jason either. His first album with them was St. Anger. And not a knock on him, as he is a great player. Just got into the band as they were flying into irrelevance.

Deftones and Radiohead are still dropping masterpieces every few years. So there’s two. With very very few bullshite releases along the way

Rob has done two albums in the long time he has been with Metallica. St Anger doesn’t count, Bob Rock did the bass.

I thought yeah he’s been with them a while but hasn’t produced a lot of content. Then I looked and Jason only did 4 studio albums and Cliff did 3. Wow. This is good stuff for another thread.

Ozzy's new album is being released sometime soon. I'd say his "staying power's has passed but he's been relevent a long arse time.
