Who are some musicians or bands that, regardless of whether you like the music or not, take themselves way too seriously.
My initial offerings are Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder (like them both), War on Drugs/Adam Granduciel (like them both), and Taylor Swift (who I dislike).

Old news, I know, but I love the way Don Henley explains that the chord progression that Don Felder came up with for Hotel California was anything but the essence of the entire song.

Arcade Fire. Just peep the track listing from their latest record and tell me this group doesn't savor the smell of their own farts...
1. "Age of Anxiety I"
2. "Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole)"
3. "Prelude"
4. "End of the Empire I–III"
5. "End of the Empire IV (Sagittarius A*)"
6. "The Lightning I"
7. "The Lightning II"
8. "Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)"
9. "Unconditional II (Race and Religion)"
10. "We"
There's a "Prelude," no less than FOUR sets of tracks with chapters, several songs with parenthesis in their titles, and a song subtitled "Race and Religion." Exhausting.

Any band that describes itself as "progressive" or considers what they do to be "art"

Started at point A with the Beatles. They basically imploded because of the egos.
U2 is a good example.

You didn't just play. You won. That's a solid list.

quote:Smashing Pumpkins had a residency at a smaller Asheville venue about 15 years ago. Their PA went out and the venue had a hard time figuring it out. I really thought Billy would freak out but he was cool about it and the Smashing Pumkins played like 5 Beatles songs in a row until they got it back working.
