I really have no right to answer this question though. I've only listened to roughly 20% of The Smiths and 100% of Radiohead.

Still have to go Radiohead, but I can make a case for the Smiths, who I think are more interesting. Both take a back seat to the Cure.

Please. The greatest musician out of either bands is Jonny Greenwood by a mile. He can play lead and rhythm guitar at an all-world level, but can also write film-worthy classical arrangements.
Marr is fantastic, but c'mon. ("Knives Out" is a dedication to Marr)

I thought we were saying who would slap the shite out of each other. Marr could rock harder than all of Radiohead put together. Greenwood is clearly more technically accomplished, but I tend to view that as a bit of a negative.
Great rock n roll is not "technically accomplished", as a rule of thumb. It is sloppy, messy, and glorious.

I love both bands but in terms of rocking harder Greenwood wins easily. Marr is probably better in accomplishing melodies. His surf rock style is great.

Same for me. I love Marr's guitar but I'm not a fan of Morrissey.

When I hear The Smiths or Morissey on Sirius, I change the channel. When I hear Radiohead, I turn it up.

I can't agree with that at all. Greenwood is a great guitarist, but Radiohead does not "rock". Well, they used to, but they seem to be almost ashamed of their early records. Radiohead can be described a lot of ways, but "visceral" is not one of them.
Greenwood is a guy I appreciate more than I actively like. To be honest, Radiohead post-The Bends kinda bores me. I see what they're doing and it's certainly ambitious. And on an intellectual level, I really like them, so long as I don't have to actually listen to their records. But no, Radiohead does not rock, nor has it in about 20 years. And the few songs they do have that do rock, they seem to want to pretend didn't happen, like the Fun Police will lock them away or something.

Not really that much of a radiohead fan, but it's pretty hard to beat the run the smith's had in the 80s - Self titled debut, Hatful of Hollow, Meat is Murder, The Queen is Dead, Strangeaways.
