78-83 10/10, but not the stuff you heard on mainstream radio

95-99 5/10

Started strong on the back ends of grunge and gangsta rap but quickly devolved into lots of fun/campy, yet rarely deep/meaningful songs, and ultimately ended with an oversaturation of teenie bops and boy bands

I thought 7 was high? FWIW, I hate all but maybe 3 songs on that list.

81-85 Some of the greatest years for music. I saw some great live shows at the UNO Lakefront arena.

6/10 at best, probably a 5.

Post-Grunge just doesn't hold up.

I would rate that much higher. '76 alone had Bob Dylan Desire, Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life, David Bowie Station to Station, Eagles Hotel California, Rush 2112, Steely Dan The Royal Scam (my fav of theirs), Boston self titled, Rainbow Rising, Steve Miller Band Fly Like an Eagle, Ramones self titled, Aerosmith Rocks, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers self-titled...and then you have the new wave and punk explosion while heavy metal is peaking. Pretty good period.

A scale from 1-10 during those years.

1982-1986...i rank that time musically as an 8.

same yrs., I'd give it a solid 8, pushing a 9. MTV was in its infancy (b. 1981) as most of us were glued to the TV watching videos. (IMO, the 1970's crushed the 80's) .

74 to 78. Close to the apex for so many bands, I can't list them all.

Pretty solid.
Birth of punk and New Wave
You can throw Disco into that era as well. While not for everybody, it attracted the ladies like no other.
