I don't know what took me so long, but a friend recommended I listen to them and I've just been listening to their main hits like Walk, Cemetary Gates etc. And their really really good. Dimebag Darrell and Vinny Paul are really good and didn't realize the singer was from New Orleans.

My question I was going to ask yall is what were some of your favorite songs and albums from them?

I believe "Walk" is among their best work, as is "This Love," "Mouth for War," and "fricking Hostile."

I'm a hair too old to listen to Pantera on the regular, these days, but dug them a bunch, back in the day.

The first 2(Cowboys & Vulgar) are straight up groove metal at its finest. Far Beyond Driven is where they started to get more extreme. Great Southern Trendkill goes way extreme & is nothing like the first 2. Reinventing the Steel is a mix of all & has now become the album I listen to most from them. In short, these guys are Metal legends. They pretty much kept Metal alive in the 90’s.

I fondly recall Pantera tracks "fricking Hostile" and "Mouth for War" serving as the intro and outro themes for MTV's "Headbangers' Ball" in the show's last days.

Living Through Me (Hells' Wrath)

Cowboys From Hell - groove metal but with some glam vocals from Phil at times.

Vulgar Display of Power - their best songs/grooves

Far Beyond Driven - their best production/sound

Great Southern Trendkill - dark/angry and underappreciated IMO

Reinventing the Steel - hard to put a label on this one. they sort of bring it all together.

LOVE Pantera man. All the popular songs will get mentioned but a few others I like:

Living Through Me
Medicine Man
I'll Cast a Shadow
Slaughtered
Regular People

I'll have to find the video but somewhere on Youtube is a funny reaction to a black dude hearing the breakdown on "Domination". He wasn't ready for that greatness.

Truth be told, they never put out a "bad" record. I didn't like Trendkill when it first came out because it was intentionally as heavy as they could make a record.

Turns out it was simply too heavy for its era ... it fits right in just fine now and sounds better to my ears than it did decades ago.

The most perfect album from start to finish is Vulgar. It's hard to believe they included so many 10s on one record. Mouth for War, fricking Hostile, A New Level and Regular People are highlights (and shite, I forgot about Hollow).

Far Beyond Driven is a close 2nd. An obscure classic on there is Use My Third Arm. Shedding Skin is awesome. I think Five Minutes Alone is probably the best overall track. It is so "them".

Cowboys is a great album, but has a few weaker tracks. Art of Shredding is a classic.

The greatest hits has 2 "new" tunes on it - one of them, "Where You Come From" is great.

The last 2 albums, they have some good stuff, but I never loved them the same way. Underground in America is great. Floods has one of the greatest solos ever. The production quality on this one is top notch. Yesterday Don't Mean shite will rip your face off.

I remember when Vulgar was big and Walk and Mouth for War were everywhere. I was more into the thrash wave back then and just wasn't feeling the chunk at the time. Then I remember one night Headbangers Ball was on and this live video for Primal Concrete Sledge came on and never has a song been more aptly titled. Damn.

I never thought hiphop would snatch away rock's balls, but those days were good ones while they lasted.

Vulgar Display of Power is one of the greatest metal albums of all time. Just put that on repeat for a few days.

I knew there were many reasons I didn't like you, but this just jumped to the top of the list.

In short if you're into them, then every album of the final five are easy to listen to without skips.

Oh and one of the greatest live performances ever.
