as well as "I've Got A Name".
"Like the pine trees lining the winding road, I've got a name, I've got a name"
This is that random song lyric you'll hear me belt out in the house that makes everyone scratch their head with the where the f**k did that come from look.

“Like the singin’ bird and the croakin’ toad
I’ve got a name, I’ve got a name.”
I’ve got a name, I’ve got a name.”

I'm not a huge love song guy...but when you dig into the lyrics of Time in a Bottle...that is one of the most authentic love songs ever written.
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

I’ve tugged on Superman’s cap, spit into the wind and pulled the mask off the old lone ranger, but I ain’t never messed around with Jim Croce

For me Bread, Croce, and Bill Withers are artists whose music has always brought me great peace and joy, whether I am in a good or bad mood.

It really is. I wanted to learn how to play it but it is so far beyond my capabilities I never stood a chance.
Just a beautiful song.

I learned enough of it to make myself happy. I can’t play it like him and certainly not what Maury is playing. Just find the cord and finger pick your own pattern that sounds close. I’m essentially just doing arpeggios with my fingers. You’ll figure out what sounds close over 50 attempts. Lol
Operator and the live version he did on television (a YouTube staple). Is tougher the way he plays it. He is doing a couple of lead caliber runs while singing. While Maury is playing true lead which is just same chords/key with more notes. Jim throws that pinky over the top with a lot of flexibility.

Jim Croce was my dad's jam so it reminds of being a wee lad in the mid 70's.
So did my father. A child of the 50's who sought out to buy a Jim Croce tape.
"You can keep the dime" is one of the best off-script, extra lines in rock history.

Don't blame the cops for this crash that was due completly to pilot error. quote:An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) named the probable cause as the pilot's failure to see the obstruction due to physical impairment and because fog reduced his vision. The 57-year-old Elliott suffered from severe coronary artery disease and had run three miles to the airport from a motel. He had an ATP certificate, 14,290 hours total flight time, and 2,190 hours in the Beech 18 type airplane.[27] A later investigation placed the sole blame on pilot error because of his downwind takeoff into a "black hole" of severe darkness, limiting his use of visual references.[28] The pilot should not have had a valid medical certificate.
For what it’s worth, an older, retired corporate jet pilot buddy of mine from Mississippi knew the pilot. He told me he was a good one. Said he’d heard he was asleep in his motel room when he got a call that he had to get to the airport so they could get out of town asap. Said he hurriedly jogged the three miles and it was suspected he had an actual cardiac event during the departure.
I was surprised when he told me because I had read before it was due to pilot error on the downwind take off at night, but this guy is very competent and by the book.

When my dad would play "You don't mess around with Jim," I would always sub the word spit with pee because it made me laugh!
I was like 6 or 7 and I still do it at 40.
