The Greatest Showman

The Book of Mormon

Hamilton

La La Land (I actually liked this one up until the last 20 minutes of the movie. The ending really ruined the whole movie for me)

I forgot about Book of Mormon. I saw it and have the soundtrack. Love it.

Love La La Land too. I love the ending. It’s been set up all movie long from the very first song.

I don’t think I can do Greatest Showman. frick PT Barnum. Think I’d be annoyed listening/watching it

I thought I would be too, but it's just so damn charming. The music is fantastic, and Hugh Jackman carries this movie effortlessly. I went into that movie wanting to hate it, but I couldn't. It's just too damn entertaining and heartwarming. It's all fiction, but it's very entertaining fiction.

Same. Although it isn't a movie that I would ever choose to sit down and watch, if my kids want to watch it I don't mind watching it with them. It does have some really great songs.

I took my daughter to see the off-Broadway production here in Birmingham a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Given what it is I was expecting a super-woke take on American history, and was shocked when it turned out to be decidedly not that. It is a straight-from-the-history-books retelling of Alexander Hamilton's story. The musical style is for the most part not my cup of tea, but I did enjoy some of the songs, and the lyrics are often clever. Listening to someone rap about early American internal and foreign policy discussions in a completely straight-faced way is actually pretty entertaining.

We've signed a treaty with a king whose head is in a basket
Would you like to take it out and ask it?
"Hey, should we honor our treaty, King Louis' head?"
"Uh, do whatever you want, I'm super dead!"

You really need to watch it. You can tell Jackman enjoyed the hell out of himself, going back to his roots as a stage performer.

Great soundtrack, great cast.

Hamilton live is fantastic. I feel like the only people that didn't like it knew they wouldn't like it when they walked in.

When I watched La La Land, all I could think was I really hope people never get out their car and sing on the east bound lane of the I-10 Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge
