I don't listen to rap, but a friend of mine teaches 3rd grade (SC Public School) and she was telling me that for some reason they were watching some video in class that had a clean clip from the Thrift Shop song and that the whole class sang "this is f***ing awesome" with the song.

Yeah, this guy is spreading a great message.

Yeah, and they all knew that word before that song.

At least the weren't singing along to "I beat the fricking pussy up" which is more typical from rap.

FTR, I listen to both Macklemore and the vulgar rap. Just making a point.

Maybe so, but I think praising the guy for his "message" (agree or not) is a bit much when he is putting out garbage at the same time.

There's still a good message in that song, even though it contains "frick."

Actually, "Thrift Shop" has a positive message as well, since he is playfully glamorizing buying awesome clothes from the thrift shop and poking fun at people who spend "50 dollars on a t-shirt." Sounds like a good message in a genre that generally promotes irresponsible excess in spending.

While I agree with this, why not also draw attention to the fact that a large portion of liberals are fully against gay people and rights? Even more radical about it than conservative republicans.

A lot of conservatives are pro gay too. But in general, I would think liberals are pro gay at a much higher percentage.

Maybe so, would you let your old your old listen to music with that word in it? I sure wouldn't.

I'd say an overwhelming percentage of the black population are not only opposed to gay rights, but vehemently opposed it.

Obviously the same can be said for far right Republicans, but to make it seem like it's only one side of the political spectrum keeping gays down is silly.

Saw this guy during the final 4 and it was infuriating how much of a douche he was.

He got on some rant about gay marriage equality. I didn't come to this show to get preached to you ugly frick.

He went on to boast that his concert was historic for Centennial Olympic park. For a park that had been bombed by a domestic terrorist leading to one of the great fugitive manhunts of the last 20 years, the Macklemore concert wasn't a blip of history.

God Im' pissed just thinking about that concert. He wouldn't shut the frick up between any two songs.
