"Same Love"
(with Ryan Lewis)
(feat. Mary Lambert)
I told my mom, tears rushing down my face
She's like "Ben you've loved girls since before pre-k, trippin' "
Yeah, I guess she had a point, didn't she?
Bunch of stereotypes all in my head.
I remember doing the math like, "Yeah, I'm good at little league"
A preconceived idea of what it all meant
The right wing conservatives think it's a decision
And you can be cured with some treatment and religion
Man-made rewiring of a predisposition
Playing God, aw nah here we go
But we paraphrase a book written thirty-five-hundred years ago
We press play, don't press pause
Progress, march on
With the veil over our eyes
We turn our back on the cause
Till the day that my uncles can be united by law

People who don't know wtf they are talking about should probably refrain from speaking. If we were so lucky.

Has a better message than 99.9% of rap songs
ETA: Its an extremely left winged view, but its better than rapping about drugs and pussy

I hate rap. I don't know who Macklemore is. Therefore don't care.

Well what were your initial thoughts? Or did you need the OT to set your expectations or re-inforce your feelings?
because that's FAF.

I support gay marriage. I'm simply asking the O-T's thoughts on this song.

I prefer music without an agenda, even hiphop that sings about getting p*ssy and living the life is positive without trying to force an agenda. Music like this can F*off
Btw to each their own, but I dont want to sing along about it.

I like the tune, but I'm not sure about the lyrics....he seems more concerned about talking about his homosexuality than making a good song....I care about good music, gay musician or not.
If you want to talk about your life struggles with being gay write a book.
Just sing your songs, if you want people to not make a big deal out of someone being gay then don't make it the highlight of who you are. Just let the music attract people. You think people care Elton John is gay? I know some of the most conservative people ever who still LOVE EJ, and he does have great music. Who cares if he's gay.

Well did you like the song? Enjoy the message? etc etc.
I thought the lady that did the chorus really made the song work. If you don't know she's lesbian, you can hear that she's really pouring her heart into her bit.
I'm supportive of gay rights, marriage not so much. I've seen how fickle many gay relationships are, but I've also seen many that have lasted decades and are full of love. I've got a client that I absolutely love. Her and her partner are amazing. They're foster parents to 3 real young kids from a meth addict home, they're going broke caring for and raising these kids. It's truly inspiring how much love and attention they give those 3 while their own family can't be bothered enough to clean up their lives and be responsible for their children.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis got tons of great publicity from the song, it launched them worldwide honestly.
