What's the first show you ever went to? If your parents took you on your behalf, it counts. If your parents took you to a show they wanted to see, it doesn't count.

Mine was Everclear in '96 at the Fox in ATL. I know it sounds silly now but there was a mosh pit and crowd surfing. I crowd surfed and loved the shite out of it. The band was on point.

Probably like a lot of y'all, that shite immediately hooked me on the live music experience.

Probably Lynyrd Skynyrd in the 90's. Maybe Guns N Roses/Metallica.

Not counting local shows.

GnR & Motley Crue
1987

During the show, Tommy Lee mooned the local preacher that led the boycott to stop them from playing or whatever. Dunno why that old fricker was actually present at the concert. I won't speak ill of the dead, but he was known to love dolla dolla bills, so maybe it was orchestrated? All I know is that 15 year old me had the Dio "metal horns" up and was going apeshit.

KISS 1979.

I was 10. The job of taking me fell to my 65-year-old grandfather.

It was general admission, so we found a couple seats and waited. A couple of young toughs came by and tried to claim our seats, saying they were there first, but just got up to go to the bathroom.

Well, Gramps stood up and said something to them that only an old man would say ( think Red from That 70s Show), and the would-be roughians moved along.

Show was awesome. Gramps liked it too.

Kiss Dynasty Tour - 1979 at the Centroplex...

I went with my friend and his older siblings and parents... we were huge fans... To this day, I dont know how/why my parents allowed me to go.. I was 8

I also went with the same family to see She Na Na around the same time... also by choice... My tastes were all over the map at that age

Do you remember who the preacher was? I remember one was leading some big anti-rock n roll crusade because one of my middle school classmates in the late 80's or early 90's started going there and was convinced that everything was Satanic. He had some video we watched, and then he gave away his cd collection. I think he asked for the cd's back a year or two later when he got unsaved.

April 12 1972 - Three Dog Night, Billy Preston, Bang, Bad Finger and and 1 other

(mind fart - seems there were five)

ETA: @ Legion Field - Remembering (gaudy but politically correct) purple hip-hugger bell bottoms, way bad hair, and not really knowing much about Billy Preston but listening to him from then on...

Think it was CCR, 1972 @ Monroe Civic Center. I bugged my parents so much that they bribed my older sis and her boyfriend to take me along

Well, that one that my parents took me to happened to be Bob Hope so I'll always be thankful for that.

The first one I picked myself , I'm pretty sure it was Eric Burdon and the Animals at Independence Hall.

.38 Special at Six Flags in Georgia. Like 1982 I think

Also saw Billy Idol, Night Ranger, The GoGo's and Tony Cary there. At one time, Six Flags hosted some good shows

First concert was the Saturday of Beale St Music Fest in '08:

-Muck Sticky (still one of the weirdest shows I've seen)
-The Whigs
-Simple Plan (who I went for - great show - first crowd surf/mosh pit)
-John Butler Trio
-Matisyahu
-Santana
