Hah! My old man loved that station! He let me know there was something before the Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Dylan (well I really liked Rare Earth and Jim Croce too). He liked all the aforementioned but thought it was cool I dugs his tunes as well...and I still do. Elvis is awesome. I also made grandma happy digging Sinatra...
Thanks for the memory!

93.3 out of Greenville SC
95.7 and 99.7 out of Charlotte NC
I have fond memories of staying up on Sunday nights to listen to Alan Handelman on 99.7.
There for a while I'd wake up and go drive around through the middle of the night, When I did that, I would flip around between whatever off the wall overnight talk shows I could find.

The old radio jingle. "WLS... Chicago!"
Pretty cool when the cloud coverage would let the AM signal from WLS would reach the Gateway City in the early 70s late evening.

AM station out of St.Louis late at night. They played the king biscuit flour hour rock concerts.
Don't see your location, but used to listen to this on KSHE FM in STL in the early to mid 70s. KSHE had a pretty strong FM signal. Never heard the KBFH on AM growing up.

Late at night, sometime after 11PM/12AM we would flip from the local FM station in KC (KYYS aka KY 102) over to an AM station out of Little Rock…..KAAY Little Rock aka Beaker Street…..oh yeah…

Every Friday and Saturday night, 93.3 WKYQ plays “The Outlaw Hours” from 10-3am. Hank, Waylon, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash. A lot of nights sitting around the camp fire drinking beer to that station. They’ve been doing it since my parents were in high school in the 70’s.
Coast to Coast AM gets a mention. Grave yard shifts.

WBLX. “ The Beat of the Bay” Mobile station I could pick up late night in Selma.
WENN Birmingham.
I used to love WVFG “The voice of the Blackbelt” with Funky Bozo and NiteCats blues show. Demopolis, Selma, UNIONTOWN!
The call in request line live was pure gold.

I grew up just outside of Bogalusa and listened to WIKC and WBOX. My favorite stations to listen to were WTIX (690 AM) and WRNO FM (the Rock of New Orleans). Also listened to WNOE as well.

Growing up in the days before tv, my parents kept the radio tuned to WWL. When I got my own radio I tuned all over the country. Some of my favorite stations were WOAI in San Antonio, WHO in Des Moines, and several others the call letters of which I can no longer recall.
