I agree 80’s but really 85-95 was golden years of music.

90-95 was an island. Nothing before like it, nothing since. Just prior to the internet changing the landscape.

Lots of one hit wonder "vibe" songs. Tons of nostalgia from that short period.

Late 60's through the mid 70's or so for me though I know this is a rather subjective subject.

Same for me. Had Led Zepplin playing in the background for a lot of my youth. We had sound systems everywhere. Trucks, boats, camps. We would bring a pair of Klipsch Heresy speakers to jam out on LED Zep at the camp. You could hear it two miles across the marsh. Led Zepplin 1970

Disclaimer: my tastes have always been more towards rock so my answer is skewed.

Mid 70's to mid 80's was really good for music, but by the late 80's it was getting stale and hadn't changed much. That is why many rock fans consider the 91-94 the best. Those years alone gave us more change in music then any other time, across almost all genres. As far as rock is concerned, more great new bands hit the scene than at any other 3 year period in time and song writing, while shallow throughout the back half of the 80's got just as good, if not better than what we had in the 70's. Today, there is some really good music, but you have to look deep into you streaming service to find it.

90s. The last decade before Rock and Roll died. A bunch of bands that started in the 90s made some of their best stuff in the 90s. (RHCP, Beastie Boys, Metallica, GnR, U2, REM) It was also the Golden Age of Rap and the Silver age of R&B. Music hit a high point in terms of creativity and popularity. People could turn on the radio and like what they heard from The Fugees, then hear Pearl Jam or Dido and be just as in to it. Now music is just....bleh. Not all of it, I won't say that there aren't any artists out there making good stuff, but man. The 90s was just wall to wall with bangers from all corners of the music industry.

Are you retarded? Every single one of those bands started in the 80s, except for U2, who started in the 70s.

If we’re going a complete decade, it would be the 80’s.

Now a ten year time span would be 65-75. The beginning of the 70’s was some of the best music ever made. But Disco killed the vibe that Floyd and Zeppelin created.

We were happy and optimistic in the 80s and the music showed it. Black and white people got along and celebrated life instead of looking for a thousand microaggressions under ever spoken word.

There will never be a creative explosion like we had then, particularly the early 80s.

Not like the shite on the radio today.

80s for sheer volume of music available and recording/production quality as well as overall quality that really lasted until 1994.

Second place: 1968 - 1976. Zeppelin. The Rolling Stones put out their best stuff during this period along with the Faces....songwriting was great with Croce,McCartney,David Gates, etc. and the guitarists from this era were insanely good

The popularity of 80’s music today shows how good it was.

I doubt you’ll hear too many people listening to 20’s music in 40 years. But they’ll still be listening to 70’s and 80’s.
