Dwight Yoakam's "Under The Covers" album is a whole album where he took great songs and totally changed them.
He covers songs by Elvis, to Sonny and Cher, to Glen Campbel , to The Clash.
It's among my favorite albums.

Well, then, just for you CAD:
Ted Yoder played the song for Curt Smith (sound seems to be messed up the first 15 to 20 seconds)

just watched that one too
amazing. love the racoon and pausing for the tractor.
also alot easier on yoder to not have to 'integrate' the vocals on his little doohickey with someone singing.

This was a hidden track on The Derailers’ Reverb Deluxe album. When Prince was alive, a version of this on YouTube would last only a few days before getting removed. Now, his publishing company appears to be much more relaxed about it. It barely sounds at all like the original. Brilliant cover.

quote:there are many Dead covers that could on the list but this would be the one I was going to post until I saw it posted already
however, as far as covers that changed/surpassed/replaced the original…this is the GOAT
This one, while maybe not his best version, is one of the most emotional songs I have ever heard. It's almost like he is passing away.

Ball of Confusion by Love and Rockets sounded great when they played it at Tips in 1987. Thunderous bass. Just so happens that Jane's Addiction opened for them and now, the turntables as they open for Jane's in a few months.
