"Pack up all the dishes.
Make a note of all good wishes
Say goodbye to the landlord for me
You know that sumbitch has always bored me."

Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in a market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver knows he's doin all right
Hear him whip the women just around midnight

This song was actually a No. 1 hit in the United States wow.

I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene
Please don't take him just because you can"

Took a look around, see which way the wind blow

When the wind don't blow in Amarillo
And the moon along the Gunnison don't rise
Shall I cast my dreams upon your love, babe
And lie beneath the laughter of your eyes

-

Livin' on the road my friend
Is gonna keep you free and clean
Now you wear your skin like iron
Your breath as hard as kerosene

-

Loretta she's a barroom girl
Wears them sevens on her sleeve
Dances like a diamond shines
Tell me lies I love to believe

-

and so on...

How could I have started this thread and not thought of TVZ first?

Great song...but it was written by one of my heroes, Mike Reid. To be a top 5 finalist in the Heisman race, an NFL 2 time Pro Bowl selection and an awesome song writer...he is a total badass.

"See him wasted on the sidewalk, in his jacket and his jeans, wearin' yesterday's misfortunes like a smile" ~ The Pilgrim Chapter 33, Kris Kristofferson

"I remember a girl from the Salvation Army
Walked into the barroom last night
Well, she took out her bible and sat down beside us
And proceeded to show us the light" ~ Must Have Been Drunk, Merle Haggard

If they ask about Charlemagne
Be polite, and say something vague
Like "Another lover lost to the restaurant raids"

or

Note to self: be erect by half-past ten

Let the night air cool you off.

Tilt your head back and try to cough.

Don't say nothing 'bout the things you never saw.

Let the night air cool you off.

I see what I do, first look at the phone
Turn on your TV
Unscrew a bottle of beer,
An orange square cellophane cheese

That's a way better opening line. Who else has ever mentioned a Kraft single in a song?

I am just a poor boy.
Though my story's seldom told,
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocketful of mumbles

It seems as though I've lived my life on the bad side of the moon...

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man, floating down Canal...

"The leaves seen through my window pane
Remind me that it's time to move my life again"

A lot of my favorite in here, I'll add Pink Floyd - Fearless from Meddle.

"You say the hill's too steep to climb
Climb it.
You say you'd like to see me try
Climbing.

You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb
That hill in my own way."
