Led Zeppelin-Immigrant Song

We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.

Hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new land.
To fight the hordes and sing, and cry.
Valhalla, I am coming.

The first thing I remember knowing
Was a lonesome whistle blowing
And a young'un's dream of growing up to ride
On a freight train leaving town
Not knowing where I'm bound
And no one could change my mind but Mama tried

****
A young man with little formal education wrote those lines, which are as wonderful as any Shakespeare. Of course, Bill Shakespeare probably didn’t have a Ph.D. In literature himself.

A modern day warrior
Mean mean stride
Today’s Tom Sawyer
Mean mean pride

Not sure if I know precisely what this means, but it’s poetic enough to make me want to figure it out. Makes me want to hear more. And it just feels so perfect in the song even though it seems so simply written.

I must have been through about a million girls
I loved and I leave them alone
I didn’t care how much they cried, no sir
Their tears left me cold as a stone

Babys at the back door breathin' real heavy
Said the boys in the alley wouldn't leave her alone
Mama did her make-up in a terrible hurry
She finally got ready but the boys were gone

Tyler Childers deserves mention here:

Well my buckle makes impressions
On the inside of her thigh
There are little feathered Indians
Where we tussled through the night
If I'd known she was religious
Then I wouldn't have came stoned
To the house of such an angel
Too fricked up to get back home
