On January 20th, 1964 'Meet the Beatles' was released in the US.
I was not quite six years old, and don't remember any music before the Beatles, so they are an intrinsic part of my childhood. All you other boomers know what I'm talking about.

But released May 2000
2000 is the last year of the 1990s decade
I can't believe I'm replying to this because I'm pretty sure you learn this in Kindergarten, but here goes
"The 1990s (pronounced "the nineteen-nineties"; shortened to "the '90s") was a decade of the Gregorian calendar that began on January 1, 1990, and ended on December 31, 1999."

He's doing the "Was the first year of C.E. Year 0?" counting of years, in which case he'd be right. Pop culture and common acceptance of 10-year periods of course says otherwise.

Over 40 years after it’s release and I still find myself listening to it every couple of months or so.
Yep - disappointed in myself for not listing that Pretenders record earlier..

Better question, name a band whose best album wasn’t the debut
Michael Jackson - "Thriller" album beats his debut solo "Off The Wall"

the Rolling Stone's list
Cringe inducing.
"No, Rolling Stone 'magazine', there are not a DOZEN or so hip-hop debut albums better than Led Zepplin (I)."

Can't believe Tattooed Love Boys wasn't a single.

Dire Straits' first album was very solid.

Agreed. Tigermilk is the debut though, right? Which is just a tick below If You’re Feeling Sinister.
The State I’m In is one of the best openers of the 90s (or really ever).

Possible I missed it and also possible people consider the Come On Pilgram EP the debut, but pretty shocked I haven’t seen Surfer Rosa on a quick glance through this thread.
Three other great ones that I’m not shocked I haven’t seen, but still great albums:
Wolf Parade- Apologies to the Queen Mary
The New Pornographers- Mass Romantic
Titus Andronicus- The Airing of the Grievances

Uggghhh... yes, you are right!
I always forget, because they were released the same year and Tigermilk was originally a very limited release... I dont think we got it in the states until a couple of years after Sinister...
so strike it from consideration!
